    Touching The Void

Finally got to see this. I rented it.

First off, I will most definetly be buying this. I've read the book, but the film of Siula Grande just puts it in perspective. What an incredible story about the willpower to live. Unbelieveable.

This is more of a documentary than a movie just in case anyone else out there is wondering.

    :4: out of :5:

It's a good one Nicholas. :T Gave me goosebumps at points. How'd they do it? A different breed of man I guess.

When I was in Alaska I peered down a relatively "shallow" crevasse standing on a Moraine in Kenai Fjords NP, and can't imagine what it must have took to do what he did.

You should see me huff-and puff when I hike. I was in the Colorado Rockies on a 18mi hike, and I do that same thing... just one more switch back, one more stream bed. Difference is I wasn't over 20,000ft, I didn't have broken bones, and I was stuffing my face with Godiva Chocolate and Kool-Aid. :B

Seriously though, Alpine-Style hiking is incredibly dangerous at those altitudes. I see the rich-bumpkins practically being carried up Himalayan peaks expedition-style and roll my eyes. These guys that pack a bag and head up remote challenging faces in one push are in a class by themselves.

        A highly recommended film.

I saw this DVD a while back and was deeply inspired by one man's endless determination to live. I'm not sure if I would have the courage and strength to go through an ordeal like that. The story keeps you interested if you don't already know about the real life story that this movie is based on. I highly recommend this movie.

            My TIVO Upgrade - It's A Snap!!!
            by David Meek
I've been kicking around the idea of adding more capacity to my 2-year-old TIVO for several months. I finally broke down and ordered an upgrade kit for my HDR31203 model from Weaknees. At $179 including shipping, I got a 120 Gbyte hard drive, a mounting bracket, the necessary nuts 'n bolts and a Torx...

Bracing the vent - yay or nay ?
            by nodiak
I'm just about to glue the last panels on a Natalie P towers. I'm using a downfiring vent and using simple stick type braces (fr.to back, and side to side) at that area (the rest of cab uses horizontal braces with several 3" and other holes drilled to equal about 10% more than drivers sd). I can...
