Heat is a seriously good movie. :T Sometimes though, I'll pull it out just to watch the downtown shootout.

I'm not a big extras fan, but the ones on this SE are (by themselves) enough to make me replace my existing copy. Too bad we didn't get a high-quality DTS soundtrack, though. It'll be interesting to see if the PQ and SQ are improved upon from the current release.

Well if they can get rid of some of the weirdo colour shift 3/4 the way through I'll be happy. The downtown shootup has always been some serious sound :T

I'm not sure if I'll buy this, but I'm interested. Heat is significant, if for no other reason than getting Pacino and DeNiro together in the same movie. I still consider the urban warfare scene to probably be the best I've ever seen in a movie.

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

My laserdisc copy acts up near the climax of this movie and I have been wanting to replace it with dvd so March is as good a time as any. The scene with Deniro and Pacino is worth the price of the disc alone.

If this disc can replicate the DD track off the Laserdisc then I plan to pick it up.

Yeah, Shane, the audio on the LD is exceptional.

COLLATERAL ... Michael Mann does it again.
                    by George Bellefontaine
I have yet to be disappointed by anything Michael Mann has attempted, but what I really like about Mann is his choice of musical soundtracks. Like Heat and Last Of The Mohicans, COLLATERAL has a killer track.

As everyone probably knows by now, the movie stars Tom Cruise, Jamie Foxx and...

Audio opinions needed on Krell CAST & Current Mode technology
                    by ShadowZA
I'm looking for any opinions (based on personal experience) out there on audio comparatives on Krell systems between utilising Krell's CAST & Current Mode technologies and not using them (and rather going with balanced connections).

For information purposes, the following information...

                    "The Wrecking Crew"
                    by Chris D
I'm watching this fascinating documentary now on AXS TV. It's a story of "The Wrecking Crew", a group of studio musicians that did all sorts of work, starting in the 60's. Never a band themselves, they played the instruments and did the studio recordings for all sorts of bands, way too numerous...

Exploring Common DIY Terminology - Heat Sink
                    by technodanvan
                    Heat Sink

Heat sinks are components or structures used to dissipate heat generated by the voice coil during operation. Loudspeaker drivers, particularly high-power drivers, can generate significant heat due to electrical resistance and mechanical losses. Heat sinks help to transfer this heat away from the voice coil and other sensitive components, preventing overheating and potential damage. The primary function of a heat sink is to increase the surface area available for heat dissipation....

                    Cast Away is terrific
                    by George Bellefontaine
I am probably the only non-Tom Hanks fan in the world, but I had to admit he did a tour de force in Cast Away and I am starting to think maybe I was being unfair to some of his other work. I never felt he wasn't a good actor, I just felt that some of the roles he played would have been just a good with...
