The "Lord of the Rings: Return of the King -- Platinum Extended Edition" may be the last DVD I buy -- in 2004. :>) "Lord of the Rings: Return of the King -- Platinum Extended Edition" also promises to be the "DVD of the Year" if not the decade, although perhaps the "uberset" including the extended editions of all three Lord of the Rings movies would be the "DVD of the Decade".

The past couple of nights I've been watching the theatrical release DVD of "Return of the King" for what is very likely to be the last time for me, since I will most likely embrace the extended edition (EE) as THE one to watch from next Tuesday forward. Actually, I consider the EE of "Fellowship of the Ring" to be the absolute "must watch" version, while with "The Two Towers" it is more of a coin toss -- EE for definitive delineation of the characters and theatrical cut for a less tired butt. :>)

Since you've held off buying them until now, the complete box set would be a convenient way to get all three at once. Of course, if you already had the extended editions of "Fellowship of the Ring" and "The Two Towers", all you'd need to do to complete the set would be to buy the extended edition of "Return of the King".
