    New Eagles DVD being made

    Hi,

The Eagles are having a new Live DVD of their Farewell 1 tour. It is being recorded over 3 nights of the Melbourne Australia concert later this month. Release expected in early 2005....

They played in Perth last night - apparently totally amazing form and sound system - so should be a great DVD to add to Hell Freezes over!

If it's surprising that the Eagles are back together, you'll be knocked out at who is getting together for a 7-8 consecutive performance gig in England -

          CREAM

All the original members too, at least that's what the rumor is.

An interesting topic and by no means am I a bubbling volcano of knowledge on the subject but there seem to be 3 categories of classic rock bands -

            1. There are those bands that we keep waiting for to get back together again. Included among them are those that physically can never be together again which of course The Beatles top that list or others that are simply not motivated enough by the money (such as the original Van Halen w/DLR) or for other reasons such as Zeppelin (although Plant and Page have played together but I do not believe they have ever toured again as LZ).

            2. Then you have the bands such as The Who that keep getting back together for farewell concerts (I went to their 1982 "Farewell" concert at Shea Stadium in Queens, NY), and

            3. Last you have the bands that never seem to retire either motiviated by money perhaps or just can't possibly need the money but just love to perform such as the Stones or Bon Jovi (some would not consider the latter to be classic rock by any stretch of the imagination).

            4. I guess there are also a bunch of bands that broke up recently and are looking to get back such as Motley Crue (since when did they become Classic Rock?). Added to this are second or third tier rock bands that are actually touring together again but you'd never know it unless you were either a big fan or heard about it somewhere - I think Pat Benatar would fit here and of course there was White Snake.)

              Great to hear Geoff,
I'm going to see them in Sydney on friday night, I'm correcting the mistake I made 10 years ago when I missed them on their 'Hell Freezes Over Tour', the last time they played in Sydney (or was that farewell tour VII . BTW, I also saw Dido at the Sydney Enterainment centre last week, this was another outstanding show.

              cheers,
              Stephen

Last night I had the privilage to watch an extensive demo of DVHS or D-theater (which is what it is being called) at Widescreen Reveiw's incredible reference video theater. I just watched and listened to this last night. It has a lot of good tracks and performances. Of particular note is "Boys of Summer" and "Sunset Grill", I found those songs to be done particularly well. I actually had to play those tracks a few times afterward...

Hey Eagles fans, in case you didn't know, their Farewell Tour Concert on DVD will be released in the next few weeks. It was recorded in Australia. I've heard it was a phenomenal concert and if this DVD concert's sound is anything like their other concert DVD, it should sound fabulous too.
