I am not one to write reviews; however, my opinion on this movie was; what a GREAT film. Great high's and low's and high's again. Most of the CGI was exciting and fresh. They successfully told a complete story. Just an all out fun movie. Must See!!

I'll make it quick and more later. FANTASTIC! Very character driven. This has raised the bar for comic book based movies. You would be hard pressed to ask for more. The summer blockbuster has arrived!
You owe it to yourself to see this movie, it's not what many will expect I think. Whoever is writing hulk should see this one and get it right
Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.- Bottom

Yes,
totally agree. This movie was unbelievable.I was expecting a great one but at this level.Yes the bar has been raised to a level I don't think can be beat. The charater devolopment was the best I've seen in a super hero movie.
My hat is off to all who spend there time creating this amazing movie.I have to see it again.................................and again.

"Unbelievable"? I disagree (sort of). :>) "Spider-Man 2" was totally believable. OK, the special effects were spectacular, almost over the top in places, and only a comic book super hero could do the things our Spidey does, but the movie made the whole thing REAL. Unlike the first one where the special effects super hero sequences seemed to be almost a different movie from the "just human" character development, in this one it was cut from whole cloth -- everything was woven together seamlessly -- and covered the subject perfectly. :>)
Toby Maguire and Kirsten Dunst did a great job, but then so did the rest of the cast. I really cared about the man characters -- got a lump in my throat several times -- and was positively thrilled by the action sequences. The villain was even believable this time around -- had a human side that redeemed the more fantastic aspects of his embodiment. (You'll know what I mean when you see it.) The comic relief lines / scenes were almost Shakespearean in their timing and effectiveness in juxtaposition with the more serious moments.
If "Return of the King" broke the Oscar "jinx" about fantasy movies getting Academy recognition, "Spider-Man 2" may just be the one that brings real respectability to comic book adaptations. People applauded at the end of the showing I attended. That hasn't happened at very many movies I've been to. They've got a winner here.
Burke
PS -- this is going to be one HELL of a DVD! The soundtrack has the potential to be the new demo standard. in fact, I didn't know my local Cineplex had such a capable sound system -- it's never sounded this good before, but the Spider-Man 2 soundtrack really gave it a work out.

I was going to write a longer review but other folks have kinda hit the highlights, so I'll just add....
The characters and story have overshadowed the effects, and for this kind of movie, it's a impressive feat. My wife commented that she was impressed with the drama this story brings (yes drama), and characters you genuinely become involved with. The pacing in the movie is perfect because it seems a lot longer but not in an obtrusive way...it's just that the interpersonal relationships are very rich, detailled, and interlaced with nice touches of humour.
Not a real surprise because Spiderman was a comic about a super hero who has a very real (and probable) existence (except for the radioactive spider part...sorry genetically modified....) with many tightly woven relationships. The writers and effects people seem to have a very good understanding of the spiderman comic and character.
You could swear at certain points that the battle scenes were ripped from the pages of a comic.
There are many interesting cameos and with the introduction of several key characters, one can only speculate on the possiblities of some very interesting enemies to arise in the next movie.
This movie doesn't leave you any doubt that there will be a third, much like how X2 ended. Slightly different movies but both have brought the comic book adaption not just to fans but to the masses. Hopefully this will inspire future projects of other adaptions to look hard into trusting the stories and themes laid out in the very comics they come from rather than going forward in a different direction or putting a new spin on an old idea.
I agree with Burke, the actors leads and minors all bring their a-game in this one. Performances are not over the top, on screen, it's not one actor striving to steal the moment from another (unlike say Batman where it could have easily been called the Joker). Each performance contains a very real element that allows you to relate their experiences with your own, even though the situations tend to be fantastical, their experiences are not. This is what keeps you in the movie, in fact it's what prevents this blockbuster from losing gas. If it wasn't for the writing and acting, audiences could have charged this movie with being too slow or guilty of not enough explosions. It walks a delicate line but in the end it pays off so many ways. Similar in some ways to the first and yet very different in others, but in the end, so much better over all.Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.- Bottom

by JonMarshI had a very pleasant experience last night, watching an above average new release at my local Regal Cinema, and it got me thinking about somethings which for me sum up my misgivings about conventional HT think and I like to approach some of the home viewing goals from a different perspective and set... -

by OvationAdmittedly IMAX-lite (which was ok as no footage was shot in the aspect ration of the full IMAX, and even the IMAX-lite cinemas have much better sound than anything else in my neck of the woods). by BlindamoodOn a slightly different tack, I just saw this at our local IMAX. by OvationFor the first time since the shutdown in March, I ventured to a cinema to see Tenet two weeks ago. I'm a huge Christopher Nolan fan and always try to catch his films at our local real IMAX 15/70 venue since he shoots so much of his footage with IMAX cameras. Was a bit unusual, to say the least. The...-
