This would make a terrific film...

It's a book entitled IN HARM'S WAY. Yes, I know there was a film called IN HARM'S WAY starring the Duke, but this book is about the sinking of the USS Indianapolis. Remember Quint talking about this in Jaws? Well the book is something else and I am far from finished reading it. But it's one of those books you can see in scenes like a film. I'd be awfully surprised if some producer hasn't already bought the rights to this true and scary thriller that covers 5 harrowing days of death and survival in the shark-infested waters of the Pacific.

    George,

I too felt when Quint told the story that, this would make for a great film all on it's own.

Thanks for the tip on the book.

      John,
The book's out in paperback right now. Believe me, it will make the hair stand up on the back of your neck. The writing is so good it makes you feel like you are THERE.

I was just telling my wife the other day, since I have been on this HT wagon, I haven't picked up a book for serious reading. This maybe just what the doctor ordered.

          Have You Read The Book?
          by David Meek
In another post about Lord Of The Rings I mentioned how the images in the film matched the mental pictures I had formed many years earlier while reading the trilogy, and The Hobbit for the first time. This added greatly to my enjoyment of the movie as it gave me a feeling of immersion in this story...

Movie versions of books (or vice versa)
          by Chris D
This may be a good discussion. The topic is popular books that have been made into movies. By and large, my personal opinion is that movie renditions of good books fall far short for a few reasons. First, I think due to the media of print, books allow for a much more thorough immersion of the reader...

          Ender's Game coming to film
          by Chris D
They darn well better do this one right. Orson Scott Card's masterpiece (and I DON'T use that word lightly) is coming to the big screen, this November. Like many literary and sci-fi afficianados, Ender's Game is one of my all-time favorite books. And as I always say, while great works of film, music,...

I will start shortening things up here. And just get to the salient points. But first, let me say this. Up to this point Heavens Gate was the biggest disaster in the history of filmmaking, at least from the perspective of the investors. At $40 million dollars it bankrupted UA studios. Books have been...

Prince Of The City is one powerful film
          by George Bellefontaine
I know. I know. This is an oldie, released theatrically in 1981, but it is much better than many films released today. Directed by Sidney Lumet and based on the book by Robert Daley, it stars Treat Williams as Danny Ciello (inspired by the real life undercover cop Robert Leuci).
