    Showtime

Staring Robert De Niro and Eddie Murphy, this is a story about 2 cops that have to team up for a reality based TV show. De Niro, plays Mitch Preston and very by the book and serious cop, "If you commit a crime in my city, I'll do everyting in my power to put you in jail." He says that to a class of elementary school kids. Trey Sellars, played by Murphy, on the other hand is looking to get into show business, he's got his own 8x10 glossy.

The two get together when De Niro shoots a TV camera while chasing some bad guys after Murphy screws up a drug bust. The station's got the city by the balls so the teamup is going to happen. The overall plot is pretty thin, and the bad guys really have no motivation. I couldn't figure out what they wanted or why. I do know one thing, they had this big ass gun that should really shake the foundations once it comes out on DVD. The theater I saw it in was lacking in the LFE punch.

We have the producer played by Rene Rousso and William Shanter makes an appearance as himself. But we're really here to see Murphy and De Niro. And those two don't dissapoint. It would have been a better movie if they just stuck to the buddy formula and dumped the major villian heavy, but hey, I still had fun. I'll be looking for the DVD that will sure to be out in 6 months.

I like Deniro and Murphy, too, so I will likely wait for the dvd. BTW, this film isn't getting very good reviews. With that cast, it's hard to understand why.

What can I say, I laughed quite a bit with this film. Sure, the actual premise of the film is sort of a stretch, but I went with it, and was entertained by the banter between Murphy and De Niro. The guys who do "Smallville" did some of the screenwriting (Miller and Gough) for this film, so I knew there would be attention to characters and their indiosyncrasies. De Niro's character got more "air time" w/r/t his home life, Murphy's character was more of the set-up funny man, though more 2-dimensional than usual. I'd recommend it if you're a fan of either of the leads, just don't expect a ground-breaking performance (the material doesn't lend itself to that. Oh, Shatner was pretty funny in his scenes (mainly parodying his TJ Hooker days).

Maybe I was expecting too much with the pairing of Eddie Murphy and Robert Deniro, but I felt letdown after viewing this one.

It's about two cops, Eddie ( a patrolman who wants to be an actor) and Deniro a dead seriious detective. When Deniro shoots out a tv reporter's video camera, the...

How much should a student first time film cost?
        by oldbob
In answer to my own question, I would say between $10,000 and $40,000 dollars. It used to be more but digital has drastically lowered the cost while at the same time making it much easier to produce a professional look.

However, this isn’t a story about reasonable. This is the true...
