Time for a fun movie quiz!

Kevin Patz has helped me upload a Microsoft Excel file that's a fun movie quiz. There are 60 different movie scenes, and all you have to do is type in the correct name of the movie to get each one right.

Easy, you say? Wait a minute... what if the actors in the scenes have been removed, so they're invisible people, only leaving their clothes behind to help you identify the scene?

This is a fun game that everybody can play. You can use any research material you like to help you name the movie. Only golden rule here is that you can NOT post the answers to any of the movies. If you're stuck, we can give each other hints, but NOT the answers. (oh, and no hacking the Excel file to go find the answers either, I suppose)

How many can you get? Right now on my first try, I'm at 51 out of 60, which gives me 85%. The ones that I'm missing so far are 9, 11, 12, 18, 39, 44, 52, 53, and 59.

On some of the answers with complicated titles (i.e. if one of them was "Doctor Strangelove, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb") it usually will accept a couple of different versions for answers, as long as you spell them right. (i.e. it might take "Doctor Strangelove", or "How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb", or the whole title) On some, though, you have to be exact.

    Enjoy!
    CHRIS

Cool quiz! I'm having a few contrary ones on the exact titles...

    Think "bowling" on #59

Looks like someone built a home for ants in #53...

Thanks, Dan, that helped me get #59. I'll have to keep thinking about the rest. Some of these are really bugging me, like I thought I knew the answer, or I can picture the scene, but can't get the answer.

I could have sworn that #18 was "The Graduate", where Dustin Hoffman is standing by the door. Apparently not.

I think #9 is directly from a promo movie poster, but can't remember the movie. Thought it might have been Branden Fraser stomping down a road.

Similar for #52, I can picture the movie ad in my head, but don't think I've seen the movie. Thought it was Jenna Elfman in the picture, but I guess not. Then thought maybe Christina Applegate, but maybe not.

You suck for posting this! I got 33 and had to cheat (I would waste too much time if not). Some of the wording is crap (IE, I knew the answer but couldn't get the right wording and figured I was wrong).

          Did you see this:

Looks like there's a new one every two weeks! They're up to 140 now! Perhaps we should start a new thread for each new one? Or perhaps start at #50 so the answers will be a whole lot harder to look up?

I'll help on the ones I got myself:

          #9, 80's movie

I tried quickly and could only get half of them. There's a few I can picture and just can't get the movie name out...

Kevin, I tried the first "movie quote" quiz posted on that site, and only got 48 out of 100 on the first try.

I do need some hints. I've only got 45.

                      I'm missing 4, 9, 12, 14-looks so familiar, 15, 23-again looks familiar, 25, 29, 39, 45, 50, 52, 57, 59, 60.

                      Hmm,
                      11 - think england
                      18 - a twist ending
44 - I came here to rescue you from him.
53 - The building has to be at least... three times bigger than this!

Thanks, Paul, that helped me get #11! I'm still short on the other five, though--I must be dense.

                        Some hints for you:

                        4. Game on!

                        14. Looks like she's on top of things!

                        15. Best line of the movie, although not this scene - 1... 2... 3... 4... 5... 6... Oswald was a fag.

                        23. Think name mixup

                        25. Pop quiz?

                        29. Dumb movie. That's all I say about this one.

                        45. Think "rice eating"

                        50. Focus on what the guy's holding in his hand

                        52. Hint: the stewardess there is black

                        57. Is this one British? Ummmm... not really

                        60. Darwin?

Some of the hints helped, and some I'm still scratching.

                              I'm still working on

                              29
                              39

                              60

There is a common thread in 11 and 12.

                              Some big hints for:

44 - Whatever you're planning to throw at him here, he's been through a whole lot worse, in lot worse places than this. I'm just amazed he allowed any of your posse to live.

Aha, I finally figured out 12, 44, and 53, so I'm down to only 39! Anybody got that one so far?

                                Paul, hints on yours -

                                29. Air Traffic Control (like the FAA)

                                57. Similar connection to 11 and 12.

                                60. (in addition to the previous #60 clue) Think a little "X-Files", combined with "Ghostbusters", and set it with "Aliens".

49 now. I'm in trouble on:

                                      4 - it wasn't Death Becomes Her
                                      12 - no clue
                                      13 - ditto
15 - I'm gonna be mad I missed this one
23 - why am I thinking Adam Sandler?
30 - thought City Slickers was right
                                      34 - no clue
39 - thought Casino might be it, but no
                                      52 - another familiar scene
57 - dammit, this one is familiar too
59 - American Pie or American Wedding didn't work

I'm going to have to go to the clues. Phooey. :

we're giving each other the clues. It seems none of us can figure out 39, though! To me, it also looks like some sort of scene set in a casino, so I tried "Casino", "Goodfellas", "Rain Man", etc. I don't know.

Chris, I know what you mean. I think I've tried about every vegas movie that I know.

                                            I'm still working on 39, 57, and 60.

This has been a nice diversion from my daily grind.
