    Avenger

Just saw this on USA tonight. I usually like Sam Elliot , but the usual "good-guy-doesn't-really -kill-anybody" theme is a little thin. If the character had the training/experience portrayed , well , it was just a movie. And I still like Sam Elliot.

    Alaric,
He was special forces. It was explained throughout the show that he was special forces and he started helping people who couldn't help themselves when his daughter was murdered by a guy.

It was originally shown on TNT and in HDTV. It debuted last Sunday.

I thought it was a good premise. I especially liked the idea of the character being a lawyer. That would seem to have been a post-military occurence and it was refreshing to see a soldier portrayed as something besides an emotionally blind killing machine or a weepy , regretful participant. The U.S. Special Forces are the cream of the crop , and can generally hold their own in an intellectual capacity. Their political science education is probably superior to many (if not most) highly rated colleges.
I also understand sound tactics take a backseat to making an entertaining film.It wasn't meant to be a documentary-and I have spent numerous two-hour blocks of my life on far less entertaining endeavors. And I still like Sam Elliot.

Even though from the opening scene, you know how this film is going to end, I was hooked. First there is the outstanding cinematography, not only of the landscapes but of the various nuances the camera explores of each character. Then there is the acting. Outstanding doesn't even come close to describing...

Walker Payne, portrayed by Jason Patric, lives in a small Illinois coal town. Before I get to the "review" of this film, seeing it has brought up a thought that I'd like to share with you. First off, this movie isn't for everyone - but I think most everyone, adults at least - should see it just once. . .
