I am proud to say I am a 1066/1075 and RCL 900 new owner for about 3 weeks now. I have truly enjoyed my new pieces of equipment. My question? I have my digital cable box hooked into Video 1 using both the coax and analog hookups. My dvd is connected to video 2. When I switch to video 2 to use my dvd, with nothing playing at the time, I can hear sound - faintly - through the speakers that is being “generated” from my tv/ cable box. This occurred when I made the analog hook up so I could hear sound from my non digital stations. I removed the analog cables and there is no sound to be heard when in dvd(video 2) mode. I do not power down my cable box. I leave it on all the time. Is this a normal occurrence? The dvd audio connection is coax.

Welcome to the HTGuide site! I hope you enjoy your say and find time to visit the other area's of the site. Now about your question....Yes that's normal since all the analog's share the same ground there's some minor bleed though on all analog inputs. Its common on a lot of gear and nothing to worry about.

by Mike HayesI am considering purchasing a Pioneer 563A ($180) universal player to replace my Toshiba SD5700. I am currently using just the digital connection (not using the 5 analog cables for DVDA). This will be my first experience with DVDA/SACD in conjunction with my 1066 so please bear with me.

by Dre JHello,
I finally registered since I had something useful to add. More to come.
I've spent a good deal of time characterizing the Rotel RSP-1066's bass management under all input conditions. Below is the link to my web page with Rotel's Bass management report and workarounds...-

by rosrosThe Rotel web site is updated to include the 1066 replacement, the 1068. They also have the 1068 manual online. Having both 1098 and 1066 inhouse (wished the 1068 was here), I compared features, sound and the manuals for the 1098 to the 1068 to the 1066; here are the differences: Note I own the 1066...-
