    1068 Osd

I just figured out that you can not use the OSD via component out if your using a 1080i or progressive source. I have an HD Tivo (1080i), the Zenith DVB318 (1080i) and my HTPC (1080i) that I ran into the processor via component cables and component out to my TV. When trying to use the OSD, everything went fuzzy so I consulted the manual and found out this isn't possible. Doesn't this kind of defeat the purpose of having component video I/O? Also, do you think this is something they will correct with future software upgrades? Since everything is moving toward HD, I would think I'm not the only one who is going to have an issue with this.

P.S. - My old receiver had an OSD as well but if you didn't use it, you could still scroll through setup on the LCD panel on the front of the unit. I guess you can't do this on the 1068 either?

Go back to that area of the manual and read how to set what video inputs are progressive or higher (480p+).. That will stop it from messing the screen up. With the options set, going to the OSD will mute the video and allow you to see the menu, exiting will restore the video..

I doubt a firmware update would fix it, and it's not really a problem if you tell the preamp what video's it can't display OSD on. The problem stems from the fact that Rotel would have to have menu programs for every resolution (480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i), and have to have circuitry to tell what resolution it needs to display. I'm sure we'll see that in future models, but the current situation is very acceptable.

I have a 1068, and Philips HDTV connected via component. I can get the 1080i screen to mute but the OSD is fuzzy and unreadable. I understand that the OSD won't work on some displays; is my Philips one of them?
          Thanks.

Ran into this the other day. If your Phillips is like the one I worked on, you have two component video inputs. One is for progressive or higher outputs (480p, 720p, 1080i). The other is for 480i inputs only.

The OSD from rotel is 480i. So when you set up the rotel so that it doesn't overlay anything, you won't get any mess ups on the video. Setting it up that way will mute the 1080i signal when viewing the setup menu, but the menu is still 480i, a resolution that your 1080i input can't display.

In your case you will have to run another composite or svideo cable to a different input on your tv and change to that input when you need to run through the setup menu..

It was a real pain for my customer and we wound up putting a Pronto in there to simplify it.

Ok, well that is what I have done. The only time it's an issue is when you want to adjust the lip sync delay on one's HDTV broadcast. Thanks for your reply.

I purchased a second hand 1068 about a year ago when I upgraded my sound system. It's been running well with my old SD TV system switching S-Video. I just got a Sharp 42D64U HDTV and connected it using Component Video. Component cable from the cable box to the Rotel and another compontent cable...

                7100 component video bandwidth
                by CP-Mike
According to the specs, the 7100 has 100 MHz component video bandwidth. What does that mean? Does it have to do with the switching? Is it fast enough to handle 1080i? Can you even do 1080i through component cables?

                Hello,

I purchased my 1055 this past December, and it is a version 2.2.6 unit. I like it quite a bit (remote control notwithstanding), but have had a couple video passthrough issues. In particular:

-When passing component video signals through the 1055 to my Pioneer...
