    Buying a Rotel Amp 991 and 993????

    Hi folks -
This is my first post and I just bought a used 993 3x200 amp through ebay after saving for a while. Since I listen to music as much as HT I needed something to take my Denon 3803 to a place it couldn't handle by itself.
First off - what's the general impression of this unit and how does it compare with the 991-2x200 which I've seen great reviews for? It seems that the only real difference is the Damping factor- 260 for the 993 and 500 for the 991, What does this difference mean?
Has anyone compared the 991/993 to the 1095???? Other then the 12v trigger what's the difference?

    Thanks for any help- Amras

Basically the 993 is just as good as the 991. Only it has 3 channels in stead of 2.

The damping factor is slightly lower, but that does not matter. More than 100 is enough to drive almost any speaker.

As far as the 1075 comparison. I would go for 2x a 993 anytime over an 1075. Quality of the 993 is mutch better, but on the other side: what in the h*ll do you need 6 * 200 watts for

    Marantz AV8802, Marantz UD8002, Rotel RB-991 and RB985mkii, Rotel RD960
    Focal/Jmlab Electra 1028S, Electra CC, Electra SW1000S, Cobalt 705
    Pioneer KRL-37V, Epson EH-TW8100, Kinkping CES-180 77"inch

200 watt is not enough for speakers like B&W 803 and higher, so if anyone has 6 times a B&W 803 in his set then better get bigger amps :P

The 2 (or 3) channel amps of Rotel are quite good indeed, bit better than the 5 channel ones.

Are RB-991/993 Really Shy on Bass ???
        by FernandoF
        Hello, folks.

I have an RSX-1056/RB-980BX combo which I am quite happy with. I'm running Dynaudio 52SE/42C for the fronts, and I understand they are rather power-hungry speakers.

I've got a good offer for my 980BX and therefore I am considering upgrading to one of the 200W/ch...

        Differences in RB-991 and RB-1080
        by Bigus
First, since this is my first post, let me just state for the record that I currently own nine pieces of Rotel gear. I was directed here because members of a more general forum couldn't answer my question.

OK... What are the electrical differences between the 991 and 1080?...
