    Buy across the state line?

Is it possible to buy Rotel across the state line to avoid paying the tax? Do you have to get it shipped across the state line for that to work? OR as a resident of another state can you walk into a store and purchase without paying tax? Of course I'd rather pay tax and deal local if I would have to pay the shipping for out-of-state purchase.

    Just wondering.

I live in Northeast Texas (about two blocks from Arkansas and a few miles from the Oklahoma state line,) and the law here is (I had my CPA check this out) if any product is (actually) shipped across the Texas state line we do not have to collect Texas sales tax. We have customers from Arkansas and Oklahoma purchase products in our store then have them shipped to them (most of the time only a few miles away).

It's perfectly legal and most states have some form of this law. The product DOES have to be shipped out of state - the customer cannot simpy show I.D. that he/she lives in another state and avoid sales tax.

Also, we do not engage in mailorder. The customer HAS to come into our store and make the purchase before we will ship it to them. Also, we will not ship into another dealer's territory.

I think most states also have a law that states if you buy a product mail order out of state that you are required to report this in your local state so they can recover the state tax.

I don't know of anyone that has ever done that!
I see the day coming where they will be able to track this.

For the record I have never bought anything mail order.
      Regards,
      Matt

Thank you tax free shopping in MA
          by Pez
As some members may know this past weekend was tax free shopping in MA (basically, items under $2500 are tax free for the weekend, exluding things like cars and boats). I saw this as a great opportunity to look at some B&W's. When I went to a dealer in Boston I wasnt expecting much a deal since...

I live in the real world where kit is not delivered to my door from the distributor for the latest issue of hearmystuffissocool.com or hifioverthetopcostnooption magazine. Transmission Line Riser Sub?
          by Lindahl
Thinking about that Danley that reaches 126db at 20hz with only a 12" in a transmission line-style box. I'm thinking I could take one of the many crowd-pleasing 15" or 18" drivers we all use, here, and throw it into my riser and snake a transmission line through it to get something pretty...

          Renting DVDs on line????
          by june
          Hello All,

We use Blockbuster on line in the Philly area. When we first joined DVDs was shipped within a day or two. Now it takes 3 or 4 days to get a film. Is this happening to anyone else?

          HPSA1000-R for Dayton HF15 midbass/dipole/line array
          by thadman
I can get these amplifiers pretty cheap ($270 shipped/each) and was wondering if theyd work with a dipole midbass line array.

          I will have 2 of them, each powering a tower of 4 HF 15s on a 24 x 96" baffle operating up to 250/300hz.

The (4)15s per tower will each present...
