Headphone amplifier I believe. It gets connected to your 'tape out'.

Yup Another possible route is that a LOT of sources have headphone outputs directly from them, you could try that as well :T

Rega makes one ('EAR') and it runs about $225 in the U.S. Grado makes one too. There are others as well.

Like I mentioned, this gets connected to your 'tape out' via an analog pair of cables. You'll have to define in your setup what your 'record' path is so you can listen via headphones.

To get good sound out of any headphone system you're almost always best of with a seperate headphone amp unit over the cheap ones built into some devices. www.headfi.com is a popular site I believe for headphones and the like ...plus several members here are big into headphones and they should be able to help you if you post in the audio area etc.

I have a musical fidelity x-can v3 head amp. It's a quality tube amp. with a nice analog sound.

              groetjes,

                HI,

Thank you all. I Know the option off the heaphone amp, but i was thinking about a recorder (CD or MD) but I do not Know if I can listen to the tuner if I use the recorder for the headphone out.

                  Hello,

I think the best is a passthrough/switch box plugged between your front speakers and your amp.

I'm using a Bryston (model SWB2) box with a 1/4 headphone jack along with Grado headphones. It's just great!!
