Does the rsp-1098 need a "burn in" period ?

    Hello,

I own a new 1098 just a few day's. Before this one i had a demo 1098 for a few weeks which sounded a bit better i think. Does the new 1098 sounds better after let's say a few weeks ? I'm still happy but just curious.

    bye,

My 1066/1075 sounded better after a couple weeks and seemed to have a lower noise floor as well. Don't know which it was, or if it was both...

It certainly doesn't hurt, I burned in my 1098 for a couple of weeks before I did a full evaluation, as well as recalibrated the speakers. After a few weeks it did sound better, well at least to me. I wouldn't crank it up loud though until after the first couple of weeks.

      Congratulations and good luck,

How does "cranking it up" affect a preamp if I may ask ?
I can see that with poweramps and receivers, you'd put more stress on the components due to higher current, but for preamps I can't see the difference between high volume and low volume.

          DrBoom,

It probably has no effect at all, (as it could with amps and receivers), I just don't ever max or nearly max out my components until there are broken in. Just my personal theory and a general rule that I follow.

          Regards,

Shootout : Parasound C2 vs Rotel 1098 (long)
            by DrBoom
Well, it's been almost 2 months now that I've lived with both my Rotel RSP1098 and my Parasound C2 and the time for deciding which I'm going to keep is almost at hand.(not that I HAVE to decide now for some reason, but I'd hate to end up with 2 processors permanently)
I actually own both of them,...

My 1098 was working fine when I first bought it. Then a couple of weeks later I bought a RMP-1095 5 channel amp and hooked it up. It worked fine with brief periods of use and then something interesting happened.

When I used it for an extended period of time, my 1098 started making relay...

            1098 vs 1068; A Comparison
            by calgaryguy
            Hi there....

I had posted recently about my equipment failures with my 1068 pre-processor. After a great deal of frustration having gone through THREE, yes THREE 1068's in 4 months, I was about to give up on Rotel. I have to admit that Rotel, along with my local dealer, were exceptional...

I like to share some of recent experience with my new 3D TV setup with my current Rotel RSP1098/RMB1095 setup. I am hoping this information is useful for anyone with the same configuration out there that are interested to take the 3D plunge.

I had not been very active in the last couple...

New Rotel RSP-1098 info now on Rotel website
            by Chris D
I was surfing the Rotel website today and noticed that they've added a link for the RSP-1098 now on the home theater processor page. Not much new info, bit there is a bit. A link to the .pdf file on the 1098 if you haven't seen it before too.
