    HDCD led problem with RCD-1070

When playing HDCD CD’s on my Rotel RCD-1070 it’s normal to have the front HDCD led on. However, when playing some normal CD’s it happens, only with a few, that this led lights in a very random way, only for 1 or 2 seconds. I wonder what could be the cause of this behavior?

I own the RCD-1070, and I don't recall it reacting that way. I also learned that some CDs that are not designated as HDCD have HDCD encoded tracks, but the entire CD will not be labled as such.

Not much information, but something at least.

    Hope this helps,

Like Azeke, I too have noticed that there are a lot of stealth HDCDs, but it is weird that it only happens for a few seconds.

Could you mention what some of the CDs are that this occurs with? Maybe Azeke or I have the same discs and can check it out.

One of the CD’s I listen too often is the Heaven Earth & Beyond from Lisa Ekdahl. Don’t remember in which tracks, but in 2 or 3 of them the HDCD led lights for a few seconds.

Hmm...I don't have that one. I'd be willing to bet that it's the CD and not the player though.

            Rotel 1066 and HDCD's
            by spiffnme
I just got my first couple of HDCD's today, and have a disturbing problem with them. Perhaps someone can shed some light.

I throw the disc into my DVD player and press play. My 1066 picks up the signal (I'm using the optical out of my DVD player) and begins it's usual 44.1kz scroll...the...

            HDCD Encoded CD's
            by efarstad
Hey gang...listening to some tunes last night and my HDCD encoded CD's took a VERY long time for my 1066 to recognize and play the signal...as long as 15 seconds into the song at some instances. Anyone else having difficulty playing HDCD encoded software?

            RCD1070 or RCD1072 ?
            by Stev
            Hi
I have the option of buying a new RCD1070 for about 30% less than a RCD1072. Is there much of a difference between them ? Any problems with the earlier model i should be aware of ? The saleman says ther is little if any audible difference between the two models. Any thoughts would be appreciated....

            I believe in HDCD
            by rotel&energy
When I first bought my rotel gear, I didn't really believe in HDCD. I had never heard of it and didn't think I could get any better sound w/o moving up to SACD or DVD-A. I realized I had one disc that was HDCD encoded and that was Beck's 'Sea Change'. I played this disc and realized it sounded amazing....

            by chinets
            Hi Everyone,
When you connect a Rotel RCD 1072 which has HDCD and a Rotel Pre/Pro 1098 that has HDCD, does one have to connect the cables through Digital connection or Analogue connection to get the benefit and sound of HDCD?????
The Rotel 1072 does give the red light when one plays HDCD,...
