    What a disappointment !

    I thougth I had it :M

I have now owned a RSP 1068 for 24 hours now, and the future looked to brigth I've been wearing shades.... until 30 minutes ago a discovered that the subwoofer crossover frequency cannot be altered per source type (DD/DTS/Stereo...)

Actually I was planning to leave my Primare SP31.7 ($3500-$4000) and be a happy Rotel owner. The Primare has the world most flexible configuration, but has no lip-sync, which I need.

    But, there a possibility:

in the ADV SPEAKER SETUP , SPEAKER SETUP: Subwoofer I can change the CROSSOVER but not have a separate/different CROSSOVER for DOLBY/DTS/STEREO/MUSIC.

If the CROSSOVER FREQUENCY setting was moved down to each source type, I could set 40 Hz for STEREO and 80 Hz for DD/DTS.

This COULD be a easy firmware change, where is the place to request a such change ?

I would HATE to sell a such nice product

Depending on your speakers, you can just set your speakers to Large without sub for Stereo listening. (no crossover required then)
And for DD/DTS you can set all speakers to small, with 80 Hz crossover.
That's the way I have my 1098 configured, but if you have bookshelf speakers that don't handle bass well, or you like a lot of bass then it might be a problem.
I would also have preferred a different setting for Prologic and Dolby Digital.
Seeing as prologic has almost no bass, I could easily run my fronts as large without sub.
But for Dolby Digital, I'd like to have a sub present to handle the lower bass.

Actually I have a JMLab Electra 926 which plays down to 40 Hz and two (!) JM Lab Electra SW900 subwoofers and they perfectly matches a flat response down to 25 Hz. This is measured in my listening posistion. The fronts are sall also here.

But for movies I set a crossover to 80 Hz and the fronts to small, and that plays ultra perfect. This is possible with my Primare, but no lip-sync

It's already No. 1 Bass Managment in the Wish List

        bwa,

You'll be pleased to know that this feature (while rare in processors and recievers) is No. 1 in the Bass Management category of the Rotel RSP-1068/1098 wish list prepared by members of Club Rotel at HTGuide

Check out here for more info...

Interesting, good to see that my wish was not insane

Still all there crossover frequences is easy to confuse you. Just now I find the Advanced Speaker Setup where the speaker is Subwoofer. That screen also has a crossover frequence that is not actually documented, because the Subwoofer Setup has the master crossover, so what is exactly the crossover when the speaker is Subwoofer ?

Still it's a problem with sending subwoofer signal when there is analog in. This could be easily solved with connecting the zone2 output to my filtered subwoofer input and set the zone2 source to CD. The problem is the volume ajustment. Aussie, could you please add zone2 volume = master volume in the wish list ?

Anything news about this issues ?

I do play both music and movies and really suffers from not having optimum subwoofer settings. Yesterday I reconnected my Primare SP31.7 I was in heaven with perfectly 40Hz subwoofer x-over i music and 80 Hz x-over with movies. It also has level adjustemenr pr. sourcetype, so I set a flat response with music and some more bass with movies in the player.

But my Primare has not lip-sync wich is required when my HTPC is playing...

So I need these firmware upgrades that gives bassmanagement pr. sourcetype and Zone2 volume set to follow master volume.

                  Bwa,

Sorry, no news and from what I know it is not in the next firmware release (which is cimplicated by the need to support different TFT hardware versions) - so your wait could be a while.. (think 2005..)

                    Hi bwa,

I am a fan of Primare, and was seriously keen on buying the pre/pro. However, I couldn't audition it at home as they were on per order basis. How would you compare the sonic signature of your Primare versus your Rotel in 2 channel by-pass?

                    Keith

Aussie, I haven't seen this on the wish-list. This could add a very advanced bass management.

                              Hi guys,
I need some help with the never ending problem of itchy feet with my audio/ht gear. About 6 moths ago I moved from a Rotel RSP 976 and Chinese Consonance amps to a Primare SPA 20 integrated h/t amp. The first moment I turned the Primare on I knew that I loved the sound it produced...

                              RSP 1068 audio lipsync delay?
                              by sounddog
                              Hiya,

I had a Rotel 1066 - 1075 and 985 mk11 and ended up selling them all and going for a stereo system.

Well a few months alter i'm bored again... fancy changing back the main thing that I was fedup with on the 1066 was the lack of delay to help lipsync. This annoyed...

I've had a few other ht and integrated amps along the way including rotel, marantz, denon and rotel separates. I found that as soon as I turned the Primare...
