video output problem on rxs-1065

hello all,
I'm figuring whether or not my unit is faulty or not hopefully someone here knows about it... When i turned the receiver on today with my tv using scart cable connection, connected to a dvd player, i couldnt get a clear picture on screen, it was black n white and all fuzzy. I've tried almost everything, changing video sources etc..even the menu looks screwed up, it shows it briefly in black n white then goes blank, i know it something to do with the receiver because plugging the dvd to the tv gives me a clear dvd picture background, using normal rca's... going thru the receiver, i get the black n white fuzzy picture....is my unit faulty?

Same thing happened to me when I was demoing the 1065 at home for a few days. I was uning S-Video. Very odd.

Definitely sounds like a problem that won't be solved with a thump on the side. I'd suggest contacting your dealer.

Well i took the unit back last week to my dealer and they hooked it up and found the same problem using a single rca... the OSD menu was still messed up and all fuzzy. Using a s-vga cable after gave a clear OSD menu so there was a problem with the unit...my dealer said he didn't have any in stock and would order in a newer RSX-1065 to replace mine, meanwhile he would lend me a used RSX-1065 to use until the new one arrived.

Now at this point it occurred to me that why not go seperates and go with the popular 1066/1075 combo everyone keeps talking about on the forums? So after ten minutes i find myself taking out my credit card and paying the difference in cost for the RSP1066/RMB1075 combo. (A mere $300 USD). That day i took the unit home and plugged it all up and fired it up.

Having used the RSX-1065 for the past 3 weeks, i can say for certain that going the seperates way is certainly well worth the extra money!!! The soundstage was a lot bigger and the dynamics of the sound very very accurate. I found at high listening levels the 1065 seemed to run out of a grunt, the sound was a little harsh and it seemed a little fatigued.
With the new setup i could go louder and it was still clear and imaging was a whole new ball game. The biggest different was in HT, explosions were full and everything sounded very clean at high listening levels...

I cannot say how happy i am, spending the extra 300USD to upgrade!!!
My only problem now is i'm fiinding it hard to stop myself from buying a ROTEL stereo RB1070 or RB1080 for my fronts to get the full 7.1 to complete my system.

What dya think ppls is 7.1 really worth it? I have to buy a new amp and 2 new surrond speakers. I use HT about 70% fo the time, the rest is for CD/DVD-A.
