    dd ex vs dd xs

    Hi Guys,

Are there any major differences between xs and ex to create the extra rear channel from 5.1 sources? And can you force the pre (rsp 1066) to be in ex instead of xs without having to press a button on the faceplate?

Related to that question, is there any way you can defeat the automatic Dolby prologic II for 2.0 dd sources?

    Thank you

I remember reading that this is actually a fix --> 2.0 automatically changes to Dolby ProLogic II ? ...you could downgrade your firmware...but I wouldnt want to! ;o)

From a news release I just saw of the first receiver, (Onkyo) with the new Dolby Pro Logic IIz technology that extracts to 9.1 channels. I chased down this technology report on the Dolby website. Very interesting.
I'm surprised that I hadn't heard of this before! My thoughts in another post...

      Dolby ProLogic - Bit Rate
      by David Meek
I'm finishing up my compilation of bit rates for my DVD's and have a question. Were/are all DVD's encoded in Dolby ProLogic, Dolby 2.0 and mono encoded at 192 BPS?

I know that the DD 5.1/6.1 is encoded at 384 or 448 BPS and DTS is encoded at 754 or 1509 BPS, but I'm not sure about the

      ProLogic IIx degredation?
      by Rolyasm
Anyone know what happens to the sound quality when a receiver converts a 5.1 signal into a 6 or 7.1 ProLogic IIx? Does the sound quality suffer? Will my 5.1 sound the exact same, only now I have the rear surrounds as well? Only reason I ask is my friend has a 6.1 speaker configuration and he had...

I am finally moving from 5.1 to 7.1. Does prologic IIx work with DTS? I read the C2 manual and it seems to work with DTS except DTS-ES? DTS-ES will work with THX Ultra Cinema (5.1 to 7.1) but I need to figure out the placement of my rears and dolby and thx placement is quite different. I am leanind...
