I have the opportunity to buy a RB 985 for £340. What is the difference between this model and the RB985 MKII and is the price I have been offered on the MKI reasonable?

If I remember correctly, the main differences in those two units were cosmetic. The MKI had a smooth flat front panel, and the MKII had a "heat sink" type "finned" front panel. I think that the MKII had a damping factor of 260, where the MKI was at around 180. I could be a little off on those numbers, but it is close to that.- Bottom

I think there were even 3 versions,
A MKI no THX
A MKI THX
And the MKII THX, witch I own.
The damping factor means it can cope more easilly with difficult speakers. However anything above 100 is alread considered overkill.Marantz AV8802, Marantz UD8002, Rotel RB-991 and RB985mkii, Rotel RD960

Hi there,
My MkII is "only" 5x100W, not 110W.
I have had both of them, and I only have the MkII version now.
All has been said about the difference. I just mention that, earingly speaking (is that english ? ), it is almost impossible to hear it.
Ive paid mine (second hand) 600€, which make around 400£ I guess.

by Jim456Hi everyone,
I am new to seperate and Rotel. Got a used RB985 amp a week ago. Now I see someone is selling RB985 MKii. It is just $130 higher than my RB985. Should I go for the newer MKii or just keep the MKi. How is the sound between them? Also, what is the lifespan of Rotel Amps. Is...-

by TimbaLandA friend is looking for the RMB1095. He found one from a guy closer to where I leave and he asked me to go check it out. I had the same amp before and I know there were 2 versions. Most obvious difference being the binding posts, 12v trigger and that MKII was available in black or silver and black....-

by petrolheadIs there much difference between the RB985 and RMB1075?
Reason I ask is that there are a couple for sale at $600 or should I hold out and save for the 1075?

Hi all
A long time ago I bought a RSP970 pre-amp and RB985 5x100 power-amp, which I have used for a while and been pretty happy with.
However the pre-amp didn't do do anything digital or proper 5.1 surround, so I decided to upgrade it. I found on ebay someone who was selling...-
