    Difference RB-985 and RB-985 MKII

I have the opportunity to buy a RB 985 for £340. What is the difference between this model and the RB985 MKII and is the price I have been offered on the MKI reasonable?

If I remember correctly, the main differences in those two units were cosmetic. The MKI had a smooth flat front panel, and the MKII had a "heat sink" type "finned" front panel. I think that the MKII had a damping factor of 260, where the MKI was at around 180. I could be a little off on those numbers, but it is close to that.

Forgive the ignorance but what audible effect does a higher damping factor have?

I think there were even 3 versions,

          A MKI no THX
          A MKI THX
And the MKII THX, witch I own.

The damping factor means it can cope more easilly with difficult speakers. However anything above 100 is alread considered overkill.

              Hi there,

My MkII is "only" 5x100W, not 110W.

I have had both of them, and I only have the MkII version now.

All has been said about the difference. I just mention that, earingly speaking (is that english ? ), it is almost impossible to hear it.

Ive paid mine (second hand) 600€, which make around 400£ I guess.

              Regards

Both the manual and the brochure state 5 x 110 watt for the MKII

I got mine second hand as well. Paid 599 Euro's for it. I was only 9 month old....

                  Not mine.

                  My owner manual says :

                  Continuous Power Output : 100 watts/ch.

You are right, mine also says 2 x 100 watt, so what is it then ?

                    I have 3 brochures here wich all state 5 x 110 watt...

                    Does not really matter though..

                      As you say.
100W or 110W are enough anyway.
