    Multi inputs for DVDs?

My RSP-1066 reset to factory settings last night before I got home. My wife couldn't get any sound as the default for DVD is coaxel and we have optical connections. Anyway, she played around with it for a while and got sound by selecting the multi-inputs (I only recently hooked those up for SACD and DVD-A on my Denon 2900). Never occured to me to listen to DVDs through anything but the digital connections, but has anyone ever made a comparison (digital vs multi-inputs)?

    Thanks

I haven't personally bothered but with the lesser bass management and delay settings in most players as compared to receivers/pre-pros I'd think you'll be better off with the digital connection. There's a reason people are ticked off that, other than with i-link compatible equipment, there's no digital connection for DVD-A/SACD.

I usually listen to music material on my Denon 2900 through the multi input. With movie material, I did a comparison between the Rotel and the Denon, and it was very close, with the Rotel possessing a bit more solid low-end.

In general the 2900's weak point is the low end. Compared to a dedicated CD player, the bass on such a player is more tight. At least compared tot my RCD-975.

I always use the coaxial link, since I run a 6.1 setup. The 2900 has only a 5.1 analogue output.

Eelco, you and I are finding the same thing about the 2900. I do find it is a bit polite-sounding compared to my Arcam CD92 because of its shy low-end. And the Arcam is already known to not possess the greatest low-end. Still, the Denon is a fine machine at US$1000, and I would not have any problem with it as my CD player.

I actually have sold my rcd-975. I already have a rack full of gear, and I found the difference too small to keep it.

In Holland I can get my DVD-2900 modified by VdMeedevoort. Thet have done some pretty neat modifications for Philips and Sony dvd/SACD players. The difference was absolutety stunning.

They will do the 2900 and still keep the warrenty. So after my rsp-1068 upgrade, the modification might be next. It will solve the weak lower end I have heard.

                Denon Announcement

                All:

Denon recently announced that its proprietary Denon Link digital interface has been approved for transmission of Super Audio CD (SACD) signals by Sony & Philips, developers of the SACD format, under the new and upcoming SACD 2.0 specification. Sony and Philips will release an...

                Problems using multi-channel connections
                by tombowlus
I recently picked up a Denon 5900 modded by Dan Wright, and while it sounds phenomenal in 2-channel, I am having difficulty using the multi-channel outputs into my RSP-1066. I get signal from L/R (and sub, using bass management), but nothing from the center or surround channels. I presumed that this...

                by NHT
Hello fellow AVSforumners. I am in a dilemma and I need your expertise. I am torn between these four players and I cannot make up my mind. I just want to make the right decision. All these players I can probably get for about the same price. I just found the Pioneer 47ai for $550 and I think it is a...

denon dvd 2900 vs. denon dvd 2200
                by billy0544
What are the main differences between the denon dvd 2900 and dvd 2200? I recently compared the Rotel rdv 1050 and denon 2910. But from what I have read most of you feel the 2900 is the best option. I already have a Rotel rsx-1056 and rb-1080 and rb991. I looking for a good dvd player for movies and...

                Denon DVD-3910: multi-region?
                by nyny
Greetings! Does anyone know where I can buy an U.S. version multi-region enabled Denon DVD-3910? I saw a few U.K. sites selling European version multi-region enabled 3910 but I am not sure if there are any U.S. version.

I read that there is a firmware update that will convert the 3910...
