    Upgrade to RMB-1585

Should I expect a sonic improvement going from two channels of my RMB-1085 to a RB-1590 for stereo from my mains?

it is my belief that with the Focal 1028 be's you will find an immediate & noticeable improvement in dynamics & bass response.
not sure about how much you will gain for stereo music as i have no experience with the A8801.
characteristics like stereo imaging, depth, sound-stage & individual instrument focus, etc., will be dependent on how well the pre section in the A8801 performs its role in 2 channel stereo mode.

With just a few hours of serious listening, I can hear a noticeable improvement in the highs and bass with the midrange sound stage more impressive than before. You can hear Adele breathing on her latest CD and the bow across the bass strings on Oscar Peterson. Very happy. Next upgrade is better speaker wires.

so V glad to hear you are pleased with the upgrade.
Oscar Peterson.......oh yeah, baby.......you are in my wheel house now.
do you have "Quite Nights of Quite Stars?

as for new wires....the owner of this site makes V good cables.
many of us use them & we have compared them to some V highend $ offerings but found reason to switch.

Otherwise, pm me for some info if you wish.

Hi normd, did you upgrade from RMB-1085 to RMB-1585 or from RMB-1585 to RB-1590?

I kept my RMB-1585 and I am using it to power my center and four surround speakers. I bought a RB-1590 to power my front Focal 1028's. Nice audible upgrade and improved sound stage and vocals. But, I'm considering replacing the 1590 with a pair of SET monoblocks. .
