RSP-1570 No Audio after firmware upgrade

Hi There,

Seeking out for advise before i take my unit for servicing, just upgraded my Rotel RSP 1570 unit from a grandfather firmware (v 1.0) to V1.28

update for main unit and video went all fine and everything was working as normal, couldn't update the DSP at first with my windows 8 machine due to some driver issue with usb to serial converter.

Used a XP machine to update the DSP today, and afterward my unit stop producing any short of sound, not via, HDMI, optical, or RCA, none nada.

Every other options and feature on the unit is working, menu, video, but just no sound. Naturally i am thinking its something to do with the DSP upgrade, i tried doing the upgrade 3-4 times, but still no success.

Now wondering if any member has an archive copy of there old version of the DSP so i can revert back to a older version to see if it fix, (B&W website doesnt list older firmware) otherwise i have to head to a service centre after this weekend.

Have you tried re-running the DSP update?

I find firmware updates are risky and sometimes cause bad things to happen. Have you tried calling Rotel?. They might be able to tell you what to do over the phone. Your probably not the only one to run into trouble with this update!.

Hi mjb, i ran the dsp upgrade 3 times, and it always says successfull, also the version info on the amp also states the correct version # after the upgrade, its just out of no-where i am sitting with death silence.

@madmac its long weekend here in Australia, so cant contact rotel for three more days. i did send an email but again not expecting a reply until next monday.

And I assume you've done a factory reset?... Navigate to the DEFAULT menu of the On Screen Display, setting FACTORY DEFAULT: Yes, press Enter on the remote. The instructions look pretty straight forward, so I don't know what else to suggest. I know I did this myself a while back (when I had a 1570) and without any issues.

yes, have the done the reset function, after every update. i guess i have take it to the service center now.

no one has a copy of the old version of the firmware?

Have tried old firmware without success,

Have dropped the pre/pro this arvo for a check with service technician at rotel authorized dealer. lets see whats come up in the report.

Just to give an update,

So i got my pre/pro back from service center, and after $230 i been told apparently i have corrupted eprom while updating the DSP and they had to replace that.

Lesson learned take it to service center next time i need the firmware upgrading.

Good news is i got my setup back in action for this weekend.!!
