Help need to and HDMI to my system

    hello all,

how can I add a yamaha reciever to this current system?
    rotel rsp 1068
    rotel rmb 1075
    5-paridigm speakers
sony bluray (6-channel out for hd sound)
    comcast cable
    western digital media player
sony 60' hdtv with 4 hdmi inputs

the yamaha will have hdmi in/outputs for the WD media player. it will be much eaiser to teach my wife how to use the system with the yamaha because some netflix stuff isn't 5.1 and I have to keep switching the audio from optical to hdmi for sound. easy for us but not for my wife. any advise would help.

Don't. If money is an issue find a used RSP 1069 instead.

There's a couple ways to do it...but this is what I'd suggest...

Make sure to get one of the higher up yamaha's that has the pre-outs on it. The lower end only has the L/R pre outs... You can use the lower end, but then you'll have to run the Center/rears with the yamaha amp, not the RMB-1075.

With all the pre-outs on the Yamaha, run them into the Multi-input on the RSP-1068. That way, when you want to use the HDMI, you're just using the Yamaha as a "DAC" essentially. Then the only thing you need to do is set the volume on the 1068 to a fixed number. So when you use it Rotel is set at 50 on the volume and the yamaha is adjustable. You can also do it the other way, set a good volume on the yamaha and use the Rotel for volume adjustment.

Then you can run anything you want to either the yamaha or the Rotel. Though I would suggest anything musical go to the Rotel... the Yamaha is not bad, but it's a tad bright and doesn't image as well as the Rotel.

Main-in for Rotel RA-02 - Wanna know how?
        by Jive Dadson
I have a Rotel RA-02 integrated preamp/amplifier. I modified it to have a main-in connection, like the old NAD integrated amps. For convenience, I shanghaied the "AUX 2" input connector for the purpose.

The reason is that I wanted to use the RA-02 with an external active crossover...

I just hooked up my rotel system yesterday. Running a 1068 with a 1075 amp. It was an upgrade from a Denon AVR-3300. I do not beleive the difference in Music this makes. I just realized how much, I am missing out. So, know I want to upgrade everything, as I am in love with this system. Now, this...
