I moved my receiver into another room and hooked all the speakers up. I have a 2.1 set up. The sub works fine but the front speakers don't work at all. I have it set to optical 1 input with PCM 2ch output. I feel like this has happened to me before when I was setting it up and I had to mess with the settings, but I can't remember how I did it. Anyone have any advice or know of this issue?

First, double check that the toslink is properly connected on both ends and to the correct input on the Rotel. If so, go to Menu/inputs/ toggle through and select optical 1. Make sure that all the correct speakers are set to small/large/ and in your case....OFF for the center/ surrounds. And of course, the sub is selected as YES.

I have a problem with the display on my RSX1065, when I go to adjust settings such as the sub level or center level, the display fades somewhat and it is hard to read. :scratchhead: Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what was done to remedy the situation?

Is it correct to assume that my MacBook can be hooked up to the RSP 1098 thru optical digital (Toslink to MiniPlug) wire and the sound will be directly decoded thru 1098's Crystal Semiconductor's 24 bit/192kHz DAC without the need of another external DAC.

I have been using digital optical cable for both my DVD and HDTV satellite receiver to connect to the 1066 and my dealer yesterday told me to throw away my optical for coaxial. Huh? Everything I have read points me to optical cable. Any comments on optical vs. coaxial cable use.
