    Rc1580

Anyone tested/auditioned the RC1580 preamp? Does it sound lean/bright?
I`m interested in this preamp as it has the "HT Bypass" feature

I have yet to hear it but do own its short-lived predecessor, the RC-1082. Other than the "Bypass" feature, I'm pretty sure the layout between the two preamps are identical. The RC-1082 is nothing short of wonderful and presents a warm and very detailed sound. Personally, I like the faceplate better than the newer 15 series.

Warm midrange and detailed sound is what i`m looking for.... Let me know how it goes when you listen to the RC1082!

How do you describe the sound of the older preamp and what is it powered to?

It's a bit hard to characterize its sound -- or lack thereof. The RC-1082 has been exceptional in letting me hear drastic differences between source components so I suppose it's quite neutral in overall character. I attest this to Rotel's design philosophy which is basically a "straight wire with gain" design.

Connecting an equalizer to a RC1580 preamp
          by Wassy
I was wondering if anyone knows if you can connect a graphic equalizer to a RC1580 preamp. If so how would it be connected? Tape 1 or tape 2 ? Not sure as there is no tape monitor button .

          Hello everybody

I received my Rotel RC1082 from my dealer couple months ago and everything looks fine.
The problem was that the volume knob stopped working and it wasn lit plus sometimes when I was powering on the preamp coupe inputs on the RC1082 were lit on on the listening...

          RB1080/RC1082 - I Need a Bit of Guidance
          by kitjv
I had the opportunity yesterday to audition a pair of Paradigm Studio 100s with the Rotel RC1070/RB1070 preamp & power amp combination. My ears were very pleased. However, I am curious about the audible difference that the Rotel RC1082/RB1080 would make with these same speakers. Or maybe going with...

          Random spike in volume - RC-1082, RB-1070
          by Swimmerbird123
Several times recently I've experienced a sudden spike in volume from my system while listening at fairly low levels (volume knob at 8 o-clock position on preamp). I'm just listening, and suddenly the volume seems to jump to a maximum, louder than I ever listen at and making me fear for my speakers....

looking for Warm sounding SS preamp
          by tboooe
Hi, i am looking to upgrade my current pre-amp. I would like to get a solid state preamp that has more of a warm sound to it. I would also like a preamp that does a very good job of soundstaging. I listen to a lot of female vocalists and would like to get a more musical, emotional preamp.
