    Rotel Surge Protection?

Now that I'm a Rotel owner (+B&W), I wanted to get advice on what surge protection to get. the RLC-1040 looks like an attractive option, but at $500 it's pretty pricey.

I went on the APC site, and there are plenty of cheaper options...

What do the forum members use / recommens?

Oops, didn't realize that there were other power conditioner / surge protection threads here... I'll keep looking, but wouldn't mind responses anyway.

      Sal,

APC makes some nice power conditioners. As does Panamax.

        Thanks hsteve,

I got myself a Rotel 1040 silver (matches my new receiver) at Audiogon.

          Sal,

Very good. That's a good unit. You'll be happy with that.

Even though the units are essentially the same externally, I read another thread in these forums which said that the sound suppression technology (forgive me if I'm not using the correct terms) found in the Rotel version is superior to the APC version, and that may be the reason that the Rotel is more expensive.

In any case, I am glad I didn't pay retail for mine. Can't wait to hook it all up.

From what I've read and seen in several reviews the Rotel is identical to the H15. Just recently you could get the silver H15 for 99 bucks.

What are you using for line conditioning and surge protection?

My latest conumdrum is what to get for surge protection and/or line conditioning. I have all the usual HT stuff: amp, pre/pro, DLP pj. My power fluctuates a lot during the summer when the HVAC cycles on and off. We also get thunder storms in the spring, so lightening is a worry too.
