I'm new to HTguide, and this is my first post. I just purchased a Rotel 1052 and rcc 1055. I downgraded from HT to 2 channel because I will be somewhat transient and carrying 7 speakers and gear can be a little cumbersome. With that being said, I'm posting to see if there is anyone that has utilized all 4 zones on the 1052. Specifically, I am wondering if you used Rotel accessories for the other 3 zones (rhb 200, rr 220) or how you went about setting up the controls in the other rooms. I'm trying to figure out the best way to control the 1052/1055 from another room with the least amount of wiring or complication. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks! :T

The easiest way of controlling zones 2-4 is getting a universal remote and an RF base and going out of the RF base into the IR inputs on the back of the RX-1052. That way you can carry the remote from room to room and operate all of the available zones without having to run more than speaker wire to each room.

I second that! alternatively you could look at RTI: http://www.rticorp.com/products/rkm1.html
If you like the idea of having local control, but this would require an extra cable.- Bottom

Personally I like the remotes from Universal Remote Control, or URC. They are very reliable, laid out well (all of the buttons are different sizes as well), great range with their RF bases and great tech support. They are more expensive than Harmony line up, but I like them better. I'm sure you will get other replies so I'd recommend you go check them out in person and see what you like.

Personally don't know the URC's but have heard good things about them. I use Philips pronto which is more expensive but has the added bonus of WiFi so better range. Also Philips has a RS232 controller available, so that if you are clever enough (i haven't worked it out yet) you can get feedback from the RX-1052 on your remote (i.e. Volume levels, inputs, sur. modes, etc...)
But again I agree with Eric that you should check them out there are so many, a good resource site: www.remotecentral.com- Bottom
