Technical question about RSP1098 multi inputs

A question for those familiar with the workings of the 1098.

From page 19 of the manual-:
"The MULTI inputs are analogue bypass inputs, passing signals directly through to the volume control and preamp outputs, bypassing all of the digital processing. The RSP-1098 provides an optional bass redirect feature that duplicates the seven main channels and passes them through an analogue 100Hz low pass filter, creating a summed mono subwoofer output derived from the main channels."

Again on page 33, it restates the same information.

I take this to mean that if I were to use the bass redirect feature, that NO ADC and then DAC would take place in the 1098 in order to sum and then add the information. That is, the signal would stay analogue from the source's Dacs (if a digital source obviously) through to the speakers.

    Is this correct???

Correct. The bass redirect is just a series of resistors and such.
Before the option to turn that on/off in the menu came around, you could cut a few on the board to disable it.

I have decided to upgrade my SR4300 receiver to something a bit better and which uses my 6.1 speakers to the full. The annoying problem is because of the one 6.1 analogue input socket I have to keep swapping cables everytime I wish to use the DVD Audio player for DVD Audio discs, because I also have...

Blu-ray Player and RSP-1098 Multi Channel Inputs
        by whmacs
        Hi Guys,
I suspect the answer will be "No", but I would appreciate some confirmation. I recently purchased a Sony S300 Blu-Ray player. I have the 5.1 analogue outputs connected to the 7.1 multi-channel inputs on my RSP-1098. I use splitters to break the rear channels into the rear and...

        C2 Analog multi-channel inputs

I am hoping some of the experts here can answer this question for me. I have a HTPC which I use for Blue Ray and HD DVD. Of course, without HDMI inputs I can only get downsampled audio to the processor.

Now that the Asus Xonar HDAV audio card is about to come out, I am wondering about...

Does RSP-1066 have an analogue bypass?
        by pbarata
Maybe this is a sold out topic, but after reading some posts comparing the analogue inputs (CD, TAPE, TUNER and MULTI-CHANNEL) from RSP-1066 and RSP-1068 I became confused. My doubt persists as I think that RSP-1066 is doing analogue bypass when 2CH option is selected (except that in this mode one can...
