Dan - I'd like to hear some rumors on a Rotel Blu-Ray unit.

As far as being quiet, maybe with the economy so down no one is buying much new equipment. You guys in the business out there - is this true? Have people stopped buying equipment or is it about the same level of business? Chris

I think you're right. When you consider the economy and the number of jobs that have been lost people aren't buying A/V gear like they use to. A/V gear is a luxury and luxuries are the first things we give up.

Well, I'm waiting for two things.
The press release with the oficial announcement of the new stereo equipment. If Rotel is planning to ship in March it is already too late. Many customers, me included, need to read the technical descriptions, and give time to create the "need", to develop the "anxiety" that make us jump to the store and buy.
I also need to show the pictures to my wife, to let her know the unit that soon will be in the living room, she has the right to veto based on looks, not much of a problem with Rotel (except the new power amps, she said they look like air conditioning grilles).

And also a less fluctuating economy, the exchange rate has increase almost 50% from november. At this rate I'm not going to be able to afford the new preamp. Actually this is what made me go to the store and buy the RC-06 three weeks ago, it was at the same price as last year and it's what I'll be listening to while I can get the RC-1580.

Business is slower then usual. It has been for quit some time. We are still working and getting good jobs, just not as many.
People seem more cautious about spending money. They try to thin out there purchases and skimp where they may. Even myself have backed off a few things I wanted to get due to keeping some cash in my pocket.
It's scary times right now and many companies are going belly up. The news about Pioneer leaving the Tv business is very sad. They have made the best overall Tv's in the business for years. Now they are going away.
Now more then ever companies need to tighten up there Quality Control. The ones that allow products on the market with flaws are not going to sell. I see it happening and have been happening for a few years. Our company stopped selling a few products due to QC.
I assume with the flaws of the new 15 series, Rotel is not selling that well. I know I backed right out when the problems started. I want to read about how cool they are , not how flawed they are. It's a shame. I know HDMI has a lot to do with it but other companies don't share the same problems.

Flaws? I wish someone would spell out the flaws. I used to be pretty savvy about technology, but I feel lost as HDMI has taken over, and processors that scale are beyond me.

So, what is wrong with the RSP-1570? What is right with the 1570?

Finished my system and moved on to other things. Building an HTPC, an 80's CJ, and looking at tube amps. Probably check in once a month. Once you've caught up on the tech, this place is like Groundhog Day reading grammatically incorrect opinions on bi amping and Rotel qc problems.

The other side of it is that once your system is done you realize that most media being produced is just absolutely awful. Learning and building it was the fun part.

Only a small percentage of members post on DVDs and CDs. I can only presume that the majority of members are either more interested in hardware than in DVDs/CDs or they're too shy to talk about what they watch and listen to.

Rotel is not going to do a BD player or DVD player in the 15 Series. The only disc player will be the CD player, the RCD-1520.

I'm seeing the same thing as Dan. There are fewer people but the ones we are seeing are more serious about purchasing. Some are spending less money and others about the same.

No DVD or BD? That reeks. What is your source for this info?
Looks like they've got a tuner in the works. Seems like there would be even less demand for that than a DVD/BD player.

                        Thanks, Chris

like most folks on this forum: once my system was up and running, there's not much more to post, especially if one doesn't get bitten by the upgriditis bug..

I spend most of the time playing around with my head-fi rig, tube CD player, channel islands VHP1, AKG 701s, and a most recent addition of two dynaudio monitors...

then there's the whole iPod-digital stuff which is getting more and more attention from me these days..

                          other forums... come and go...

The source is my Rotel rep.

The DVD market above $150.00 is virtually dead so doing a DVD player doesn't make sense for a company like Rotel. As for a BD player, there isn't much that Rotel could do in one that would out perform a Sony ES, Pioneer Elite, or Denon that would justify the price they would have to charge. They are just not big enough to do it right and make money.
