1098 firmware updating

Hi

I have the 1098 firmware flashed at 2.1.8 can I update it to the 4.xx firmware if I do all the eprom update or am I stuck at this level because of the screen as if I remember rightly the older models couldn't be update because of a dark screen

You should stay with the 2.X firmwares due to the LCD hardware, although you can take it to 2.2.3 which you can get here: http://www.datasync.com/~firebird/Ro...df_ub_4474.bin

Will update in the next couple of days, are we older owners losing on the updates or are they the same as the 4xx ? (they look the same )

Just get a Belkin USB to serial adaptor and you will be fine. I've used one, with Vista no less, and have been able to update Rotel firmware. This is the one I use.
