I recently updated the software on my RSX-1055. I have my Comcast HD cable box connected to my receiver via the digital audio out of the box to a digital input on the back of the receiver. Now whenever I turn on my cd player or my heater turns on or I turn the lights on in the adjacent kitchen, the audio blanks out for a second. I have my receiver on a sperate circuit from my cable box. When I am playing a DVD via a digital connection I have no problem. I have no problem with the analog input but it's not Dolby Digital. I don't recall if this was a problem before I updated the software twice.Any ideas?

Depending on the version you went from, the update could have effected how the 1055 locks onto a digital signal. It might have helped you realize a ground issue that's always been there.
Any reason the cable box is on a different circuit? That's the first thing I would remedy. Assuming you are running a coaxial digital cable? Same thing with an optical? You might also need a cable ground isolator to go on your coax cable coming into the cable box. In any case I would be concerned that so many things can effect the signal that way. You might have an outlet wired wrong somewhere in the house.

I've always had my video and my audio separated and on two dedicated 20 amp circuits. In my attempt to trouble shoot the problem I moved the power to my cable box to a different circuit altogether. It did not resolve the problem. I am connected via digital coax. I had the electric company out to the house to check the power coming into the house and everything is fine as far as voltage is concerned. The cable box has only a two prong plug. I might need a coax ground isolator. Where can I get one?- Bottom

by Club1820So when I first set up my HT I had a terrible Ground Loop Hum. With the help of this forum I purchased the Jensen Isolator and all things were great. I connected the isolator directly to the cable outlet in the basement/HT and the hum was gone. I even "think" it improved the picture. (?)... -
