    ROTEL RVE-1060 Video Scaler

    Hello,

Does someone have some input about this product ? I got the RSP-1098 and I am looking for a scaler that could manage HDMI inputs and enhence picture quality from conventional DVD. I got the Toshiba HD-DVD, does it realy upscale standard DVD ?

    Thanks !

The RVE-1070 was shelved. The scaled down RVE-1060 is available. 1080i max output with fewer HDMI inputs.

      JP, replied to your PM.

        JP,

I have the RVE-1060 and it works just fine. Annoying it only has 2 HDMI inputs but the picture quality on DVD is an improvement - not sure how much, but just about noticeable. Integration with the RSP-1098 is excellent and it works very well.

There is no real manual with it and a very simple remote but once set up you don't need either. PM me if you have any specific questions.

My only gripe is that it only has 2 HDMI ports so I can't run my HTPC, PS3 and DVD through it.

        Cheers,

        Darren

          Hello Darren,

Could you tell me if the 160 can output all sources (Component and S-video) to the HDMI monitor Out ? I want to make sure that I only need one HDMI cable to link to my tv.

          Thanks !!!

Hope you don't mind me chipping in. It outputs all sources (analogue and digital) to the HDMI out.

              J-P,

As Henk has confirmed, it all goes out over HDMI. Although my PS3 won't switch now I have a new Pioneer Kuro? Worked fine on my old Panasonic but yes, composite, component and S-Video all go to out on one cable. Apart from 1080p "gap" I like the product.

              Cheers,

              Darren

What is the difference between this and the faroudja DVP-1080? Other than $5,000.

Will this get rid of artifacts that I see in the high def signals? Such as when you see complex patterns misrepresented, usually in sports?

No, it only scales and modify's standard-def signals. HD signals get passed through untouched.

I know that I should be posting this elsewhere, but you guys just seem sooo knowledgeable here!

Just had a quick operational question about your video scaler. I'm seriously considering one of these to plug into my HT and I'm wondering how do...

                        by bullitt731
I spoke to my local AD today after noticing Rotel had added a new DVD player to their website. Apparently they feel this will be used as a 480i transport to mate with their new 1080i scaler. I was told the DVD player is priced at $499, and the scaler will be $1,199. My primary question to my AD was...
