    Rotel RDV-1062

Here's a weird one...was trolling Rotel's site today, and found this on the Manuals page:

    RDV-1062 "Preliminary Data Sheet"

This model appears to fill the gap between the RDV-1045 and the RDV-1092/93. It supports DVD-Audio, and provides HDMI upscaling to 720p/1080i. Don't know when they intend to officially announce it, but it looks like an interesting (i.e., cheaper) alternative to the 1092/93 for those of us who don't necessarily need 1080p.

Interesting how they add this in there

"With high quality scaling, standard DVDs look even better on today's high=resolution monitors and you dont run into the risk of choosing the wrong new format (blu-ray vs. HD DVD).

I guess its pretty much 100% that rotel will wait for a winner.I have to ask this though...what if there is no winner and at what point will Rotel release one format will not win. They chose a side with DVD A. Cant they just sell a player as a "Great upconveting DVD player with the ability to play HD DVD and or BD"?

BTW the 1062 says it has version 1.0 for HDMI. Without 1.1 or analog outputs how does it do DVD A?

The 1045 says it does DVD Audio too...but have a look.

no HDMI or analogs. There is also no DVD audio indicator in the front.

The RDV-1045 falls into the catagory of 'supports' DVD-A but only gives you a 2ch mix of it. Yamaha has several players like that.

        The 'old-fashioned' way...multi-channel analog outputs.
