I'm trying to connect my rotel amp to a mac pro.. what's the safest and best way to get quality out of it... currently i'm running a red and white cord on my aux on the rotel's end and on the other end is a headphone plug and plugged in via headphone jack on my mac pro... Is there a safer way or better way? Because I noticed the headphone plug is sensitive if you unplug it while the amps on... so anyone here use same set up or way I have it using a headphone jack?? or do you guys use both red and white plugs on both ends.. which isnt sensitive to the speakers.. even when I touch it with my fingers makes that brrrrrrrrrrrrr loud noise..
What's the best way to connect Rotel amp to a say a mac

There is no best way. I use the optical out to an external DAC. You could also use a usb or firewire soundcard. See the computer thread you also posted to here. See the link I provided in that thread. Maybe spend some time reading instead of posting.
If you must use the headphone jack, set the Mac output volume to a high value (around 70-90% seemed to work well - you want to maximize the signal to noise ratio, but not overdrive the amps inputs), and use the amp to control the speaker volume.
The 805 speakers are probably a waste if you are driving them using a computer headphone output (especially if you use low bit rate mp3 files!).
I'm sorry, but I'm done replying to your threads for awhile. That speaker return thing bothered me, also, you ask too many questions that you could answer for yourself with just a little bit of research.- Bottom

by photomanFinally got around to hooking up my Mac mini to the home entertainment system. I used the cable with a mini-rc to optical and connected right to an optical in on the 1068. My music is ripped via Apple's lossless compression. I used iTunes and it sounds pretty darned good for what it is... I was amazed...-

by JustinGNSo I've got a bit of an unusual question for everyone with regards to audio outside the home. I work in an office where portable media players and other portable/personal electronic devices are strictly forbidden (and result in *instant* termination if found!), and I work the night shift a couple days...-

I'm using Beyerdynamic DT-250's (80ohm version)
For weeks it was fine,...-

by UFObusterI recently replaced my receiver with separates without realizing that the RSP-1068 has no headphone jack. I have great 'cans'--Grado. Is there a way to make use of the 1068's outputs for headphone use? I can't figure a way but I'm very new to the product.
thanks,
Roger-

by whmacsHi All,
I'm contemplating getting a headphone amp for my RSP-1098 to improve two channel listening (I've got Jamo THX speakers which are great for movies, but not so good for music). I am tossing up between the MF XCAN v3 and the Creek OBH21SE. I've currently got a pair of Senn HD570 headphones,...-
