Rotel Surround Processors - Video Switching

The current Rotel Surround pre-amps don't appear to have HDMI inputs or outputs. Are you required to purchased an external scaler to get this feature? Has anyone heard if they plan on releasing something with HDMI included in the near future similar to what they did with the new receiver?

How do these pre-amps stack up against the Parasound gear? For twice the price, will Parasound give me twice the performance?

I'm sure the 1068 and 1098 successors will have HDMI switching, but it's unlikely you will see those before next year, with the 1099 (or whatever it gets numbered) coming first. I am purchasing a 1058 as a preamp for this reason, because I don't want to wait so long for the 1068 successor, and the 1058 should be sufficient for my HT needs.

annoying rotel doesnt release a pro the same time they release a reciever.

I figured that if they figured out the tech for the receiver, it would be simple to also include it in the pre/pro. But somewhere on an accountants spreadsheet it probably doesn't make sense to shorten a product life cycle to incorporate a feature. I didn't think they had anything coming out this year that would have it, but though it wouldn't hurt to look.

They are probably on the fence trying to decide on a 1058 style upgrade to the 1068 and 1098, versus an all new piece with the newest decoders built in.

Perhaps after they see the sales of the 1058 and talk with dealers to see how many were new sales versus upgrades. We could quickly see a 1058 style update, or completely new models late next year.

Since the newer high-definition players, either B-ray or HD do all the decoding internally and output it via analogues. Would it not be viable to get 3 rc-1082's instead?

But you'll need to get upper tier DVD players that do proper decoding of the different audio formats internally and output via 5.1 analogues.

Nice to be able to turn up the volume on just the center channel with a turn of the knob. :P
