Better go 7.1 or separate new Stereo ?

Hello everyone...

I need your help ! The fact is that I can't really decide what would make more sense : upgrade my current HC-System from 5.1 to 7.1 (by adding an RB-1080 (to my current 1075) and two Monitor Audio GS60 for front) or to build a new separate HiFi system (Based on either RC-1070 or 1082 and RB-1080 or 1072 + 804s).

Important point, both HC and Stereo would play in the same room.

I use my current HC-system for 65% music and 35% for movies.

Know it may sound a bit weird, but what would you do ?

If you are talking about two sets of speakers for the front, it's going to be hard getting both in the right spot. Stereo imagining is important for movies too.

What are the room diminsions and how is it laid out? That will play a big part in whether 7.1 will be any better then 5.1.

I would personally just work on improving the stereo portion of your 5.1 setup.

The fact is that I am currently working on the room dimension : the house is not yet build, that means I am totally free to dimension the room !

But what you said sounds interesting to me : how would you begin an improvement ? Do you mean acoustical treatment or some more equipment (power-stabilizers, powerful amp for the front speakers) ?
