Have recently got back inot vinyl. Rig consists of a Rega P5, Exact cartridge & TTPSU. I am happy with the sound but am always tweaking. Would a outboard phono stage <$500 improve the sound over my onboard PS? A writer who did a review on the RC-1070 said the phono stage was worth the cost of the pre alone and I would think the RC-1090 pre phono stage would be a step up from the 1070 (MM only - 1090 is MC & MM).
