RSX 1057 2 Channel and Crossover Question

The 1057 is being run in two channel mode and I want to make sure I've it set up correctly.

In the speaker menu the Sub is set to no, the mains are at full, and the other speakers are all no. When you go into advanced setup though it still shows the default crossover settings for all speakers at 100 mhz. Are the speakers getting the full range signal like I want? And is there anything else I have to do to get them to run at 100 watts x 2? It sounds correct but I want to make sure.

Is there a downside to running this in 2 channel mode or should I be trying to get the other 3 speakers + sub? Right now I'm running a 360, dig cable, and DVD player through the opticals and coax, is PLC 2 channel the optimal setting or should I move it to something else? The output on these three components is usually 5.1 or above so I want to make sure and am still kind of new to this.

    Thanks.

Advanced settings are just for when the speakers are set to small. Just make sure all the individual surround modes are set to MASTER.

The 1057 is designed to be a 5.1+ processor. It has issues downconverting a 5.1 signal into a 4.1ch or less setup. You'll be losing dynamics running everything digital and keeping it in stereo. I would advise running all your sources analog in and using the bypass setting (hit the stereo button until BYPASS comes up). Set all of you sources to downmix / no DD/DTS if applicable.

That or buy more speakers, but don't just buy something to give you a 5.1 setup. You'll have better sound running analog in on two good speakers vs digital on 3 more cheap speakers.

      Thanks.

When only the two front speakers are selected does it automatically switch to 100 watts per channel?

It does not actually switch. When you are only using 2 channels, there is less demand on the power supply allowing slightly more output prior to clipping.

SCMS or DS8S for height channel speakers?
          by JargonGR
I am thinking about trying Dolby PrologicIIz and Audyssey DSX on my setup and I stuck between those speakers.

Is there any reason to pay extra for the dipole function of the DS8S over the SCMS when used as height channel speakers and or wide channel on DSX?

          The other parts...

Advantage/disadvantage to having dual center channel speakers
          by jam200
This is my first official post. I'm interested in knowing the advantages and disadvantages of having dual center channel speakers. I have a Rotel RSP-1068, which allows for dual center speakers. I would use dual B&W HTM7's with 703s in the front. I also have B&W 601's for the center backs...

          RSX-1057 and losing sub
          by landshark99
I keep losing the sub output when i have RCA coming in from my ipod or other source. Everything else plays fine, i just lose the subwoofer.

The only way around it is to go into the 1057's menu and reset to factory. Anyone have a clue why this is happening? All the other sources are fine,...
