Advantage/disadvantage to having dual center channel speakers

This is my first official post. I'm interested in knowing the advantages and disadvantages of having dual center channel speakers. I have a Rotel RSP-1068, which allows for dual center speakers. I would use dual B&W HTM7's with 703s in the front. I also have B&W 601's for the center backs and B&W 685's for the surrounds.

I would drive the HTM7's with a Rotel RB-1070. I'm using another RB-1070 to drive the mains and a RMB-1075 to drive the surrounds and center backs.

    Appreciate your comments.

I'm under the impression that the center channel is a mono stream: I don't see any advantage to using 2 center speakers in this case.

Also, dual speakers reproducing the same signal but displaced in the horizontal plane with interfere with each other acoustically. The result is irregular dispersion with the so-called "Venetian Blind" effect. There is no good acoustic justification for using two, only esthetic or ergonomic reasons.

Single vs Dual Channel Measurements, or why friends don’t let friend use USB mics
            by Reet
What does single channel or dual channel measurement really mean, and what are the implications of choosing one over the other? This document aims to help answer this.
Strictly speaking, a microphone is a single channel of audio input, in that it is a mono signal. USB microphones which include integrated ADC and USB codec can be considered a single channel device.

Dual channel would be a measurement which includes a second channel of signal input in addition to the microphone....

            Dual Voice Coil (DVC)

A dual voice coil (DVC) design is a configuration commonly used in loudspeaker drivers, particularly subwoofers. It involves a speaker driver with two separate voice coils wound on a shared former (the cylindrical structure that holds the voice coils), each connected to its own set of terminals. Each voice coil is wound with its own wire, and they are physically separated but located on the same former. The former is connected to the speaker cone, which moves in
