    I couldn't resist on RF-82 etc.

I ended up getting "Klipsch RF-82/ RC-62/ RSX-5 and RT-10d" after selling my B&W 804. I'm very, very happy knowing what I paid and how they sound. I'll be picking rotel 1080' soon.

how do you find the change of sound quality going from the 804s to 82s? I made similar switch about an year ago, going from 704s to 82s. I still think that Klipsch speakers are one of the best out there for the money for movies.

      Ditto,
Put tubes ahead of them and listen to what they can do for 2 channel as well.

804 went throught Rotel 1057 and Bryston 4B-SST,
RF-82 at the moment going through just Rotel 1057 (adding 1080 soon),
the 804s are more revealing, lot more clear if you would, the mids more defined and not as much lower end (with out sub.)
the rf-82 seem just little bright at the moment, sound stage is excellent and amazing on the lower end.
        When I had listened to RF-82 at the store (RF-82 Rotel RC-1070, RB-1080, RCD-1072)
and the combo sounded amazing, I really, really liked how the combo sounded. For a second I went (is this really klipsch?) :>
I'm sure once I get 1080 and the broken in, the sound will inpruve.

This is all very interesting to me. I plan on replacing a Yamaha RX-V2200 receiver soon with a Rotel RSX-1057, which is running my Klipsch RF-5, RC-7, RS-25's. Last Nov. I bought a 2 channel system with Rotel RC-1070 and RB-1080 with B & W 703s. I love it! So, I was thinking of eventually replacing the Klipsch with some B & W's, and maybe switching to separates after that. Here, yourtoys and BlazeMaster are going the wrong way from B & W to Klipsch! ops: :W Just kidding! No, its just always interesting to see what different people like.
When I bought my 2 channel system, they had to order the B & W's but had all the Rotel gear in stock, so for fun I hooked the Rotel up to the Klipsch (I had to make sure it all worked, right!! ), and holy crap did they (the RF-5's) sound good, and that was with the Rotel equip. right out of the box and no playing time yet. I may just be able to save some big $$ once I have the Rotel going, which would be nice. I've always liked Klipsch (I have some KG-4.2 also that I dragged to college with me and man did they hammer, what bass...okay I've matured some... :-y ). My RF-5 just seem a little lifeless but a better receiver or separates I'm sure will help!
Anyway have fun with the Klipsch!!

            Ted,
the reason I had to let go 804S due to my little son running around, as strict as I'am about my system, what can you ask from 15month old when its too late.
I love B&W sound and always will, but for the price that I paid for Klipsch, I don't have to worry too much even if he does something.
with Klipsch I'm still getting very nice sound, enjoying music/ movies and lots of money saved up :>

Oh come on, what could a 15 month old do to Kevlar and Rohacell drivers!! :W Just wait 'til he was a little older and wanted to play with the microphone on top  !
No I understand what you mean. I've been happy with both, but do hope the Rotel equipment will help me love the RF-5s, rather than simply liking them. We'll see. Have fun and enjoy the new set-up!

Ted, I know that going from B&W to Klipsch is not considered a upgrade, but after I heard the Klipsch for movies, the B&Ws had to go. In a way, I turned myself into a HT guy. I'm sure one day, if I was to start an pure "music" system, I'd look into other popular "hi fi" brands again, but my Klipschs are here to stay for my HT setup.

BlazeMaster, as I said to yourtoys, I was really just kidding with you two. I have nothing against Klipsch at all and have owned Klipsch since 1992. I'm thinking my tastes have maybe changed, but also as I said above, I really do hope simply changing to a "better" receiver and perhaps separates down the road will make the Klipsch put a smile on my face again (like when I briefly hooked them up to the Rotel equipment).

As another note, my local dealer sells B & W and Klipsch Reference series and when discussing the two brands for HT, he mentioned the soundstage of the B & W but also the dynamics and efficiency of the Klipsch and said that's a really nice thing for HT. And of course, as everyone here says and I agree, he said you really just have to decide for your self.

I truly hope to love my Klipsch again, it will save me a lot of $$ if I do!

Again, my comments were really just kidding and observational, I certainly don't assume that my opinion is the correct one.

Have a great day (it finally looks like spring here in Iowa which is exciting!)!

It's amazing that for the price of 2 speakers, you were able to squeeze out 5 for it!

Klipsch is good stuff.... my parents have a full HT setup at home, and they've had it since 2003. No upgrading necessary!

                      Ted,
I knew you were just kidding, about the microphones I didn't have to wait for my little to grow up, all the grown ups (my friends) just love trying to take that, I know its so tempting.
Klipsch RT-10d the corner sub is a monster, I love the mic. that it came with for auto setup.
For 2ch, I ended up getting Sennheiser HD 600, C&C box amp. and NEW Cowon D2 4GB, and didn't cost me that much :>

Love the Klipsch & Rotel Synergy

It's very well known in many of the audio forums, Rotel fourm, and Klipsch forum how well and great synergy the Klipsch and Rotel combo has, nothing short of stunning.

                        I run Rotel RB-1090/RC-1090 with my Klipsch RF-7, Klipschorn's, and B&W N800 speakers.

I have to say that I prefer Klipsch over B&W for my taste. The Klipschorn's give a much more wider and airy sound, the B&W N800 sounds more bright, more direct path. The Klipsch RF-7 remains one of my most favorite speakers to date that I have in my many collection of misc. speakers. Klipsch has a very live and real sound, as if you are there listening to the performer and hearing the music as if being played in front of you, you hear everything, it reveals a good or bad recording quality. Germany did a shoot-out and the Klipsch RF-7 won best speaker even over the B&W N800. The Klipsch RF-7 has become like a cult thing over in Germany, they love it. My B&W N800 sits unused most the time, I love the looks of it, has excellent build quality but I may part with them as I don't really give them much usage, still I love the look, still debating. I am new to the Klipsch world, all my Klipsch speakers were bought brand new after finding out what Klipsch is really all about from so many customers swearing by Klipsch. Klipsch has a very strong following. Just like Rotel does!

Rotel still remains one of my most favorite sounding gear that after going and spending much more on other gear, I've just found myself coming back to Rotel for that great Rotel sound. Some of the much more expensive gear can be much more refined but too refined for my taste and I really like Rotel's overall balanced concepts for sound. Both Rotel and Klipsch give you an excellent value and sound that puts in the top class act list. My Rotel and Klipsch will stay with me until death do us part.

I really enjoy DIY projects and I'm pretty handy with everything from a drill press to a soldering iron. I'm fascinated with this DIY speakers scene. Browsing forums, doing a lot of reading on a number of subjects I'm not very familiar with, and really interested in getting a project going.
