Will a class D RMB-1077 work with Axiom speakers?

Ordered last week Epic 60-500 Axiom speakers to go with a Cary Cinema 11 and a Rotel RMB-1075 that I recently purchased. Discovered last evening that the Rotel is going to be too tight of a fit going into a cabinet bay that is 8 inches high. In talking to my Rotel dealer today one replacement choice is the class D RMB-1077. My concern is that he said class D amps are very edgy and must be very carefully matched to speakers.Make the wrong choice and it will sound like someone is running their fingernails down a chalkboard.

Before deciding on the Axioms I was going to go with Paradigm Studio 60's that he sells. He noted today that he has sold a number of 1077's with the Paridigms as the speakers are very forgiving. As I found the Axioms sound very similiar to the Paradigms will the 1077 be a good choice with the Axioms?

Hoping to especially hear back from a Rotel 1077 owner that has the Axioms.

Your dealer sounds like he doesn't know much about what he sells. The 1077 sounds very good with clear extended highs. If it sounds edgy its because the program material or speaker is edgy, not the amp.

I agree. If anything moving to a 1077 helped tame my slightly bright (to me) B&W Cdm9's.

It's all in the ear of the beholder.

Many people regard the Studio's as a "brighter" and more "agressive" speaker, so if the amp works well with those . . .

They probably forgot that the RMB-1077 takes atleast 3 days of heavy use before it breaks in. :W

This is a wonderful sounding amp and performs well above it's rated watts. It replaced all my old 200watt amps. :T

Well it looks like the Rotel RMB-1075 not fitting into the bay was a blessing in disguise. Stayed up to the wee hours last night posting my concern to a number of forums. All of the responses were BUY the Rotel RMB-1077. Found a number of interesting threads on both the RMB-1077 and Class D amp ICE power technology from Bang & Olufsen. Also three very favorable reviews- Home Theatre & Sound, May 2006: Audio Video Revolution, April 2006 and Ultimate AV, May 2006.

I really wonder Is Class D technology at the point that A and AB amps will soon be considered antiques.

What has really sealed the deal for me was reading the review at lunch today in the March issue of The Absolute Sound. If the RMB-1077 had not worked out I more then likely would have bought the Parasound Classic 5125. Having the reviewer consider the RMB-1077 a worthy replacement to Parasound's flagship Halo A51 is a real compliment to the engineers at Rotel and Bang & Olufson.

The 1077 replaced my beloved Earthquake Cinenova amp and I have no regrets, would do it again in a heartbeat.

Wow, that's a very impressive endorsement.

Is the 1077 driving the B&W 700-series shown in your profile?

I think they first demoed the rmb-1077 powering B&W 800's with all channels.

Guess I need to update my profile. The amp is powering a Monitor Audio RS setup, RS6's, RS CLR and RS fx's.

The only thing the 1077 lacks compared to the Earthquake is the sheer visual impressiveness. That beast just looked powerful. However the 1077 has its own visual impact.

The usual disclaimer applies...not scientific, yadda, yadda, yadda. (Though we did have a switcher to make changes immediately, and volume levels were controlled)

OK...many of you know I've been demo'ing new speakers for awhile now. I even went so far as to buy a Radio Shack 4 speaker...

                        Hi all!
I just got through auditioning Axiom m22's with the VP150. While OK for home theater, they did not do as well for music. I listened to tons of different types of music, while OK for some, lot of music was harsh and made my ears ring.

With that being said, I am returning...

I was ready to pick up a sunfire cinema grand 200x5,when i ran accross a rotel rmb1077 costing a little more than the sunfire. The rotel i know is only 100 x 7 but how would it compare to the wattage of the sunfire.Reason i ask is that there seems to be a raving about the 1077 even though it's only 100watts.Does...

Anyone out there use Axiom speakers with a Rotel receiver/amp?

My next upgrade is speakers (full 7.1 set up) and have a few brands I am considering:

                        B&W 603 S3s, LCR 600 S3, DS6 S3
Energy Connoisseur - LCRs across the front and RC-R surrounds/backs

Any Axiom M80 owners in Montreal/Ottawa?

                        Hi,

I am considering purchasing the Axiom m80 or Epic 80 Home theater system. Or even the m60.

If anyone has the Axioms and live in either the Montreal/Ottawa area...I would love to hear your set-up.
