I am not sure exactly what you are asking, but you can use the B&K-Ref30 internal tones or DVD with test tone i.e. Avia and get the same results.

Sort of.
You can't really adjust the individual channel trims with the Ref 30....
You can adjust the fronts, rears, CC and sub, but you can't get at FL, FR, RL and RR individually without running the B&Ks calibration tones.

I can't seem to figure out how to adjust the levels using other than the internal noise generator, which runs each time you go to speaker levels on the setup menu. I know you can do the temporary, on the fly, changes on the remote to some of the channels, but you lose those levels after you turn the unit off or put it in sleep mode.

That's with the buttons on the bottom of the remote, if I'm on the same page with you here. Unfortuately, those are lost each time you shutdown.

You might have a later rev of the remote, mine only has CC, Sub, Surrounds, no Front.
So if you hit + for Surrounds, you raise the level of BOTH surrounds.
THat's the point I'm getting at.
