I've had a couple of glitches with my Ref 30. Have you expirienced these?

I have had my Ref 30 for a week now.
    I have expirienced two glitches.
The first was while watching a the Tarzan DVD.
The sound all of a sudden stopped, and the front panel display went blank. The digital logo was still on indicating receiving a signal. I seitched to my satellite input, and got sound, but still no display. Then I went back to DVD had sound, but still no display. So I turned the main power off, and re-booted the unit, and all was normal.

The secomd happened the other night. I finished watching a movie, and went to put the unit into sleep mode. The unit was unresponsive to the remote. After fidling with the remote trying to get it to work, I re-booted the preamp and all worked normally.

So far these are the only problems I have had with the unit, and neither has happened more than once.
Have any of you guy's expirienced any of these problems? Or have you heard of them?

    Thanks,
    Bob

    Bob,

I've had the Ref 30 lock up a couple of times on me, but I'm still on 2.04 -- and haven't had a chance to upgrade to 2.05.

Bob, pay real close attention to that sort of thing. IMO, a new pre-pro should not have digital glitches built in. I had a problem with my first lexicon that resulted in an immediate eprom upgrade. That did fix my problem, but if it hadn't, I would have been pursuing a change or something...

        Bob,

Never had this problem. If you just received your Ref 30, you are probably on 2.05. Check to make sure. If it continues again I would suggest having it checked back to the dealer. Sorry to hear about your problem. And I like the remote !

Let us know .... ohricky !

          Thanks for the reply's guy's.
          Glitch #1 happened again.
I also think I had another glitch as well. Last night the unit was on, but I wasnt in the room.
When I came into the room the unit was deep into the setup menu. in the advanced features section. The remote was on a shelf, so I dont think anyone touched it.
I'm gonna stop by my dealer on the way home, and see what he thinks.
I do have the current 2.05 software.

I do like the remote, I do however have a Pronto. I am using the remote temporarily until I get used to it.

I'll be back later with a update on what the dealer thinks.

The glitches have been few, and minor, but I want to make sure it's right.
I must say though that I am extremely happy with the Reference 30.

Haven't had a single glitch with mine since I got it in January. I'm glad your pleased with the Ref.30's performance, but if it was me that these glitches were happening to, I'd bring it to my dealer in a box and insist on a new one.

            Good Luck.

            See ya. Dave

              Bob,

I've had the Ref 30 for only a couple of weeks. I've never had the picture cut out. I've never had it unresponsive to the remote. I do have an ir extender plugged into the back so i'm not relying on the receiver 'eye' in the b&k. That way i can shut the doors on the cabinet and not see all those darned lights.

I gave up on the TheaterMaster - didn't like the DVD control (or lack thereof). Went with the Pronto and LOVE it.

The only glitch i have had with the Ref 30 was when i was switching back and forth between Stereo 2 and Surround 2 to hear differences in format - one time when i switched to Surround - the Ref went into feedback mode - sounded like the speakers were going to blow - I hit the power on the remote and prayed that i still had drivers left in the speakers. They're ok, and i'm not switching modes very often any more.

Keep us posted. I hope B&K is committed to quality. These digital thingys sure seem prone to gremlins.

I stopped by my dealer on the way home. I told him of the troubles, and he has a sort of pissed "thats not right" look. He is going to contact B&K tommorow, and see what they say.
The store I go to is great. They will definately take care of it. I just hope that if it does need to be replaced I dont have to wait to long for another Silver one.
This one came in real fast. We ordered it on monday, and it came in on Friday. My dealer was surprised at that. He has been waiting for Black ones for a while.

                  Bob,

Given the modular construction, they could ship you all new boards, you do a field swap and send them back the defectives....

                    Bob,

Good of your dealer to take care of you. If I may suggest, taking a new black one in stock from your dealer (if they have one) and exchanging the face plates. They can then send your defective one back and your on your silver new Ref 30 happy listening way !

My dealer spoke to B&K today.
They are going to send me a replacement.
I can keep the one I have now until the new one comes.
I will know tomorrow how long it's going to take.
No real big deal though as the one I have works fine 99% of the time.

I am very happy with the way way this was handled by both my dealer, and B&K. My salesman said that his rep said that they could swap the boards out, but since I just got it they might as well just give me a new one.

I told him to bug him about the DPL2 upgrade, but I forgot to ask if he did, and what was said about it.

Bob I am sorry to hear you are experiencing problems and I am also glad B&K is going to help you.

For feedback purposes I have not had any problems with ref 30. Best of luck to ya!

                          Thanks Jerry.

I am not disapointed in the Ref 30 in the least bit. It is a great proccessor. I have been very happy with it's sound. I actually havent had any glitches lately. Not since I posted the last one further up in this thread. I will still be getting the replacement. If they happened before, they can happen again.
