Cables to bi-amp with RMB-1075

Hi everyone,

This is my first post. I just purchased a Rotel RMB-1075 last weekend along with B&W 704s and an HTM7.

I wanted to use 4 of the amps channels for the 704s, and am wondering how I would do the cabling to go from my receiver's preouts for left and right to 4 inputs on the amp. Do I need some sort of splitter?

Yes you basically need a good quality splitter to take the one channel from the pre/pro and split it to the two amp inputs.

I think Doug (AKA Lex) makes splitters of very good quality through Cat Cables. You may want to send him off an email for info and pricing.

Yes you need a spiltter. There's three ways you could do it depending on your budget and existing cables etc...

Basically you could buy a set of bi amp cables that have a two sets of cables that have a common connector that would plug into your pre amp. I know http://www.catcables.com used to make such a beast and I'm sure Doug would make you up a set if you asked. This is your best option as you don't have to worry about signal loss though a conventional splitter.

The other options are to buy some sort of splitter to either plug into your pre amp and give you two female RCA's to plug in two seperate RCA cables to plug into the amp or buy a splitter that has one female and two male ends that would plug into the power amp. The issue with these splitters though is that their quality usually isnt' as high as the RCA cable feeding them so they become a bottleneck in performance...which degates the whole point of bi amping

Doug (catcables) replied to me with the different types of options they can make this cable. Is shielding important to have for this applicaiton? It is an extra. These are going to be made of a single cable and then two split cables.

Is there a big difference between having a single cable or 2 separate runs terminated at the end similar to the better cables one?
