    RMB1075 x 2 with PSB Platinum speakers

I am in the process of selecting components and speakers for a new HT. I haven't selected a 7.1 processor yet, but am thinking of the following setup:

    Room - 19' x 15' x 8.5' (converted 2-car garage well sound insulated)
    (2) RMB1075 total 10 channels 200W per into 4 ohms
    (4) bi-amped to FR and FL
    (2) bi-amped to Center
    (2) single to side surrounds
    (2) single to back surrounds

    Speakers - PSB Platinum - 4 ohm 7.1 system

Does this setup make sense? Has anyone paired Rotels with PSB speakers? Platium series?

Thanks in advance for any advice or comments.

The 1075 is 120 wpc, not 200. You'll need the 1095 for that, which runs twice the cost of the 1075. I'm personally not a fan of the 1077 amp, but it may serve your purposes better here, and almost everyone else thinks it's a great amp. You should give it a listen. May even find you can skip bi-amping.

Thanks for clarifying the 4 ohms. I'd like to use the 1080 in place of one of the 1075s, but from all the literature I've seen, it doesn't appear that it will run at 4 ohms. Is that correct?

The 1080 should run at 4 ohms just fine And PSB speakers are quite nice, should sound lovely with the Rotel gear :T

Thanks for your response. Would you recommend bi-amping with the 1075 as described or using the 1080 for the Fronts and the 1075 for center and both sets of surrounds?

I'm not a big fan of biamping because most people don't crossover the signal prior to the amps and disable the crossover in the speakers which is the proper way to do it. In that case I'd go with the 1080/1075 as I'll think you'll get better performance/dollar as well as better stereo performance from the 1080. If you are planning on biamping properly, as I mentioned above, then two 1075's could be quite nice as well but it's a lot more work and more cost in crossovers and cables.

                Ditto to the above post.

As for watts/ch, 100 at 8 ohms is equivalent to 200 watts/ch at 4 ohms. If the amp does not double exactly from 8 ohms to 4 ohms, you're probably losing something (most likely headroom).

I'm a bigger fan of the 1080/1075 idea. Again, you may want to look into the 1077.

Rotel and PSB - I'm not alone?!

I've got the newer PSB Image towers and center powered by a RSX-1067 and backed by a new REL R series sub.

                      No complaints.

Stick to RSX1065 or go to 1055/1075 separates?

I guess I'd like to hear/learn advices/experiences from those who have gone this route.

That is, stick with the RSX1066, or exchange it for the RSX1055/RMB1075 combo? I bought it from Myer-Emco so I can do the exchange with no penalty.

                        The reason I'm contemplating this...

                        Hello

I have recently purchased the 1066 along with the 1090 amp which is driving my main speakers. And by the way the combination is stunning both in sound and appearance (silver). To round out my system I need a 5 channel amp. This amp would drive two PSB inwall rear speakers and a...

                        Upgrading RMB1075
                        by Henk
I currently have the Rotel RMB1075 and wish to upgrade. My choices are (1) keep the 1075 and buy a Rotel RB1080 for my fronts (Paradigm Studio 60s) , or (2) trade in the 1075 on a RMB1095. Suggestions on the better option will be trule appreciated. I listen mostly to classical music (really).
