Grounding equipment

I have a Belkin Pure AV power conditioner with a metal peg on it and according the to manual its meant to attached a grounding wire to it from other pieces of equipment.

Can I just attached a wire to any metal part of my rotel equipment then attach it to the ground outlet of my power conditioner?

Why does rotel equipment have a grounding wire built into the power outlet?

When making electronic equipment, there are many design philosophies one can take. For most of Rotel's stuff they chose to be groundless. In a perfect power world, there's no issues with that.

It's when you get into the multitude of situations out there that a groundless setup can cause problems (or a grounded piece of equipment in a groundless setup). Connecting a wire from the metal chassis to ground can help when ground loop noises occur (or perhaps make them worse).

If you are having issues, you can try grounding all your non-grounded equipment to the post, but it may take some experimenting to see exactly which pieces need to be grounded or not.

The Rotel equipment should not be connected to a ground wire as others noted. The only noise issue I have had was from my local Comcast cable connection to the TV system. That was solved with a ground-breaker device in the cable wire.
