    RB-1080 - Help - Now I really have a dead Ch

Earlier I thought I had a dead ch but it turned out to be an IC. But now I really have a dead ch. I bought it used a few days ago, after the initial scare with the dead IC, I was able to connect it fine and it was working great for almost two days. This morning I noticed that there was no sound coming out of my right speaker. I thought it was another dead IC, but after switching connections and all the diagnostics, I realized that the right channel is not producing any sound.

So, what are my options now? How much would it cost for me to get it fixed at the Rotel dealer? Is there anything I can try at home to fix it? Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks

Since this problem is well known, Rotel may surprise you and fix it for free if you ask nicely. You would be responsible for shipping each way however.

      Jerry,

Are you suggesting that I should call Rotel directly? If so, do you have a contact no. or email?

I called my local authorized dealer and they said their service dept is closed today.

      Thanks

        Update

I have posted this in my other thread too.

I replaced all the fuses with new ones from Radioshack. The amp is working fine now. But I am still wondering why it blew in the first place. I don't use the 12V trigger and I did not biwire my speakers. And my speakers are very easy to drive too... my old RB980 had no issues driving them... The only common thing between others who had the same problem seem to be the interconnects. I use MIT AVt2 ICs.

        Thanks

Leave the power on the 1080, see if that helps.

          Best regards,

            RB1080 / RMB 1095 - Channel Outage
            by Adz
Okay, one thing I purposely failed to mention in my first posting in order to give Rotel the benefit of the doubt, was that when I got my RB1080 it was dead out of the box so obviously I was given a new one. The 1095 worked fine for about 3 months, then the left channel died. Last night, the left...

Ideas/Opinions to toss vs fix RDV995 w/transformer buzz
            by Rotel4Life
I've had a RDV995 for many years and didn't use it for maybe a year or so. When I plugged it back in, there was a faint buzz- a very typical AC/DC transformer buzz. Then when I turned it on there was a LOUD buzz. I popped the hood and didn't see anything obviously cooked, no notable odors. In some other...

            SOLUTION to my RB1080 hum!!!
            by Al K
Thanks again to the club members that helped me determine the source of the hum through my speakers! ( As posted previously, hum appeared with the addition of a new RB1080 added to sysytem). The source in my case was the tv cable! I never mentioned how I permanently solved the problem!! So here is the...

            by atinaebud
This is the 3rd time my rb1980 has blown the left channel upon shut down and I am very unhappy. I emailed tech support 0n Feb. 22 and have not received a reply which is making me even angrier. I explained in my email that the first 2 times it was under warranty and now it is not, which is making me...

            Didn't I have a scare this morning
            by mazuly
            Hi guys,

So I went and ordered a cable from Rotel to do the firmware upgrade on my RSP-1066 (BTW, they charged me USD $30.00, no matter how hard I tried to get the cable for free ). UPS brought me the cable this morning. Happy and excited, I printed the instructions and connected the...
