    rb981's Buzzing

hi i wonder if anyone has experienced this problem, its not buzzing through the speakers, but the units themselves are buzzing. i have 2 bought secondhand and were setup as mono, i use them for center, and surround, i have a rb1080 doing stereo and thats fine, previosly i had a 985 mk2 which was also fine.

if they are used without any connections they still buzz.

i don't want to get rid of them as they sound very good, i could alwasys build a cupboard for them i suppose

    Hi,

I have owned a pair of 981's, and both of them are dead quiet. I stil have one of them for stereo, but no buzzing at all. I live in Europe, and power seems te be less troblesome overhere....

ave you compared the 1080 to the 981. Is the 1080 mutch better sounding ?

      I am in europe, UK.

i have dedicated mains so i don't think thats the problem.

i wonder if attacking the case with blue tac would improve things.

IMO the 1080 has more detail and a tighter bottom end. you can really pickout every instrument even when the amps are really rocking. my only critism is that you have to crank it up a bit. for some reason i have the speakers sat on the 981's set to -6 after calibration. Weird.

oops... I thought you lived in the US :-)

Have you tried to remove the amps from the rack, and remove the lid.
Be very carefull because of the electricity. I cannot inmagine where the hum could be coming from, since the amp does not contant that many parts. Normally the transormer can hum, but I can't see this becaulse Rotel uses very high quality ones.

The 1080 is quite a bit more expensive, so it should sound better....

yes your right, it should be better.

watched Alien last night late on, and had to have the volume quite low and all i could hear was the humming from those amps. i will definatly attack them with blue tac this weekend.

I had been hearing real bad buzzing from my amps and processor for the last couple weeks. Even while the system was off, in standby mode, it was still very loud. by audiofan
            Hi
I know that the "hum" thing has been asked many time in the forum. However, most question related to the interference of cable TV or Satellite Dish.

Here is my situation: I don't have any cable tv or satellite dish connected in the system. Whenever i turn power...

I've read some of the manuals for some of the Rotel equipent I might be intrested in. And I've noticed this.

The manuals for the power amplifier units (RB and RMB) states:

"Note: Should you move your RB-1080
amplifier to another country, it is possible

            by xspale
            Hi Everyone,

I am new to Rotel and this forum. Before few weeks I purchased Rotel 1065 A/V Receiver from 2002.
If I am close to speakers I can hear silent buzzing sound from left speaker. I have tried to disconnect everything and switch to fm tuner but buzzing is still there....
